Prep Update

Upcoming learning:

During the next fortnight, Prep students are undertaking learning in the following areas:

Reading	Week 6: Character conversations. We are looking at fluency and how we can change our voices to match characters conversations. Week 7: Persuasive books. We will be reading 'Don’t let the pigeon drive the bus' and looking at the persuasive words used. We will continue to engage in daily Phonics lessons, focusing on the long vowels /igh//ie/and /y/ all making the long /i/ sound.
Writing	Week 6: We are making a wordless book and using this to tell oral language verbal stories. Week 7: Persuasive writing- We are writing our own persuasive pieces on 'Don’t let the pigeon drive the bus.'
Maths	Week 6: We are looking at the properties of 2D and 3D shapes. Week 7: We are ordering the days of the week/months/seasons.
Inquiry	Week 6 & 7 Toys unit. First we are planning our own toys and then we will be constructing them based on our plans.
Social and Emotional	Week 6 & 7: Our focuses are Persistence and Sharing/inclusion.

Hats! Students must wear their hats outside at recess and lunch times. Please ensure that they come to school daily.
Reader satchels- In between the reader change, please continue reading our decodable book as this will help with fluency, comprehension and blending skills. Don't forget to go through all the sounds we have learnt so far in our phonics books, as well as the 'sound out and read section.' This is extremely important, especially as we start to learn some trickier diagraphs.
Heart words- Teachers will continue checking heart words throughout the week and updating them as needed.
Prep classrooms are still collecting construction materials- boxes, cardboard, paper towel rolls, ect. If you have any items that will help us, please send them along to school. Any help will be greatly appreciated!
