Sacred Heart's Greatest Show

Foundation and Year 1/2

At Sacred Heart’s Greatest Show, we danced to "Everywhere's a Dancefloor” and it was so fun. We loved dancing! We loved seeing all the interesting costumes. We used lots of instruments like drums, scarves and ribbons. We liked the performance. The lights were so bright on the stage!

The concert last night was great because we got to go on a giant stage! We liked the circus performance because the devil stick performers and the clowns were very good. The Grade 5/6 performance was amazing because there was a pretend class. We loved everything about the concert!

Lawrence, Connor and Ruan

Last night we danced and watched Sacred Heart’s Greatest Show! We had a blast!! The Year 2s performed a Circus Act. There were clowns, cartwheels, spinning plates and devil sticks. It was the best! Then the Foundation and Year 1s danced to Everywhere’s a Dance Floor. It was so much fun and Mark was very funny dancing across the stage! All the families had so much fun.

Rayzon, Aylah, Valentino and Abigail

Last night we had a concert, it was great! There were so many people. Some of us were shy but we still went on the stage. It was so exciting being on the stage and seeing our mums, dads and families in the audience. Lots of parents were laughing and cheering so we think that means they liked it. Our favourite part was when some of the Year 2/3s cartwheeled across the stage for the circus performance. We also liked when the 5/6s were doing their dance.

Last night we performed at the Thornbury Theatre. It was our whole school performance. We were disco dancers and we had lots of fun! Everything was shiny including the disco  ball - it was so sparkly and bright! We liked the Grade 5/6 boy band and the way they sang “I want it that way!” Michael Jackson was amazing because of the way he danced. We also performed to a song called ‘Dynamite’. We love this song because it says ‘disco overload’. The concert was oh so good because we got to use musical instruments and colourful ribbons. The whole experience was so awesome!

Year 2/3

Our performance was called The Greatest Show. The year 2/3 had two acts. One was a circus act and we then did Roar. In Roar, we used ukuleles and some of us did some dancing. It was fantastic! It was the second time we performed in front of a big crowd; we last performed two years ago at the Thornbury Theater for Peter Pan. Some of us were a bit nervous at the start but it faded out over time. We felt very proud because it was a big achievement for us performing in front of such a big crowd. We were all tired after the grand finale but we were happy and relieved!     Viraj, Arvin, Christopher

I enjoyed dressing up like a clown. I wore rainbow pants and a pink shirt with a black and white frill. I also had red cheeks.     Austin

Our performance was about the circus and the song Roar. We think the circus act was brilliant because we all turned around and showed our circus skills on the stage. Roar was marvellous to do because we did all our dance moves correctly and played the ukulele cords properly. Everybody was practicing for the performance during the dress up rehearsal. On the night, the finale was breathtaking! The finale was wonderful!     Shamus, Benjermen

On Monday we all had an awesome dress rehearsal at school for our concert. It was so much seeing other people's costumes. On the night of the concert, everyone looked so beautiful! The year 2/3 did a circus performance; it was a little scary at first but we really enjoyed performing it. Our second act  was called Roar. It was loud because of all the roaring. Some of us played the ukulele, some of us danced and some of us sand. Our parent loved it and they were very proud of us.     Chloe B., Olivia

We got dressed up at home and then came to Thornbury Theatre. There were clowns who were miming and being silly, jugglers with juggling balls,  people with spinning plates and  devil sticks, rainbow twirlers, cartwheelers and some hula hoopers!! We think we were all amazing! We did another act where some people played the ukulele, Katalina was a drummer and Georgina, Olivia and Emma were singers. There were also six dancers. We liked playing to the song Roar. We were all excited and nervous. We thought it was the best performance in town.     Chloe D., Eva

Year 3/4 Learning

Art -Optical illusion  By Katelin H.

Whooo this is making me dizzy, oh it's just the optical illusion art piece that our class has been doing. We’ve been working on a realistic optical illusion artwork piece for the past few days, and we’ve made really good progress so far. First we all started drawing straight lines across an  A3 piece of paper, then we did some wavy lines going in and out repeatedly. Afterwards we chose 3 different colours but some of us chose 4 colours, and it's looking shockingly realistic. When we finally finish the artwork I know for a fact that it will make me feel like I’m definitely woozy!

ICT  By Callix

In ICT the Year 3/4s are working on a project, we are writing about our passion! Such as games, sport, animals, and other spectacular things. We went in pairs but some people went in trios for unknown reasons. Most of this is about interests that we like, we explore them and we find out new facts that are super amazing!

Art Newsletter Report   By Natalie and Kaitlyn A.

AHH!! We started our optical illusion; (it looked like we were falling down a colorful hole) All the colours were EXTRAORDINARY!!! Red, yellow, green and blue are the colours you can think of! SCREECH!! Pencils and crayons were gliding on sheets of paper, some people did really wavy ones, some did lots of waves and others made small waves (Natalie did a small amount of waves and Kaitlyn did a small amount too). Everybody did a great job and we (the students) put lots of effort into our art.

ICT favourite thing passion project  By Massie

Today I am talking about the Year 2/3 and the Year 3/4 passion project that all the groups have been working on. They have been giving their best shot and their hardest go.

My topic was about Ronaldo and here are some of my research facts about Ronaldo. He has scored a record 857 senior career goals for club and country. He is one of the few recorded players to have made over 1,100 professional career appearances. Collectively, Ronaldo has won 34 senior trophies in his career.

Year 5/6

So much energy from last night's memorable evening, but probably best encapsulated by an email Liz Yandell sent to the kids today. It read....

Dear Marty,

What a fabulous night last night! Your kids were so so so great! All of them!

I loved the drumming, the boy band, the dancing, the YMCA and Ethan was fabulous as Michael Jackson and Bhavin!!! So many highlights. Great choice! Please tell them that I loved it. Also that I loved seeing them all. So proud of them.

When I left I told them I was looking forward to seeing them as leaders of Sacred Heart and last night each of them showed how much they have grown into leaders. The energy and enthusiasm from a senior group of kids and their willingness to put themselves out there sends such an amazing message to their younger peers that can't be underestimated.  For the 5s , next year as 6s you will need to continue this legacy! For the 6s, last night showed you are ready to take on your next challenges as you know you can achieve so much when you work together and commit to putting the work in. And you can find enjoyment and pleasure in that.

I am so happy for you all.

Keep that buzz and commitment going - only 7 weeks to go until the end of the year.  Make it count.

Love to you all

Liz
