Year 8 News

We are well and truly into Term 4 now and into the busy time of the semester. Students will be starting to commence CATs in many subjects in the coming weeks, we encourage parents and carers to have conversations with their students on their progress and touch base with staff if needed.

Val Finch Writing Award

Congratulations to Abbey Brown who is the winner of the Val Finch writing competition for Year 8.

Values Awards

Year 8 values awards recipients were acknowledged at our our year level assembly on Monday, congratulations and keep up the amazing effort of showing the Horsham College values, they were:

• William Hutchinson 
• Lucy Pietsch

Reminder: As a Sunsmart school, Terms 1 & 4 students are required to wear hats when outdoors. Please make sure you have a hat, if you need a new hat, they are available to purchase at the front office. If you need support getting a hat, please see YLC. I students don’t have a hate, they need to sit in a shaded area for all break times.

General Reminders:

• Please keep the Year 8 locker area tidy.
• Ensure that you make it to all classes on time and come prepared. (Diary, device (charged and with charger) & subject-specific materials)
• Please remind your parents to contact the school if you are going to be absent.
• Please keep phones in your locker during school hours.
• Respect the Year 8 toilets

To ensure that students can stay focused and on-task we encourage students to bring their water bottles to every class and make sure that they are filled during their recess and lunch breaks. Unfortunately drinks such as soft drinks or milk drinks purchased from the canteen are not allowed in the classroom, these must be finished in the yard.
