Congratulations to the class of 2023
I want to congratulate our Year 12 students on their positive finish to their classes two weeks ago. Each Year 12 student demonstrated kindness, considerate conduct, and respectful behaviour, while having a lot of fun in the final week of their classes. They have been great role models to our younger students all year and this was another example. It was fantastic to see over the last week the appreciation our Year 12 students have given their teachers with kind words, thank you notes and small gifts. I know the staff at the school have found it very fulfilling teaching the class of 2023 and were appreciative of this acknowledgement. One of the greatest rewards of being a teacher, is teaching the same groups of students from Year 7 through to Year 12 and seeing their growth and development from adolescence to adulthood, so often a small thank you means a lot.
I want to share my appreciation to all the Year 12 families who attended the Celebration Day BBQ evening on Wednesday 18 October, with over 400 people in attendance. This was now my 10th Celebration Day BBQ and I believe this was the biggest one yet! There was a great atmosphere, with students, families and staff able to interact in a relaxed setting and celebrate the last day of Year 12 classes.
Playground improvements
We have several projects currently underway around our school yard that will provide improved facilities for our students.
The school received a grant to build a playground and this project has made significant progress since the start of construction at the beginning of this term. The playground will open for our junior students at the beginning of 2024 and will include a climbing frame, ninja course and accessible fitness equipment.
We have also invested in upgrading the capacity of the schools recycled water system. The upgrade has included the installation of additional water tanks to increase the capacity of the system. We aim for this improvement to keep our oval greener in the dryer times ahead.
The accessibility works across the school are well underway with most of the works now being completed. This has included the installation of new disabled parking at the front of the school, leveling and installation of synthetic grass around table tennis area, several new ramps, pathway upgrades across the school and electric doors to two toilets and entrances to three buildings.
Best wishes,
