Welcome to Term 4, and what a great start we have had!
The Foundation students participated in The Great Barrier Reef Explorer's Day, two Scoresby Superstars sessions, met with their Buddies, and visited the Melbourne Aquarium!
We are all looking forward to our Buddy Movie Night/Teddy Bear Sleepover, and ask that all Foundation students bring a shoe box to school early next week so it can be decorated and used as a bed for their teddy/soft toy.
In other exciting news, our 5 butterfly chrysalis will be arriving next week, and I hope the students enjoy the experience of watching the butterflies grow in their chrysalis and then emerge when they are ready, in about 10 days. We will also be having a butterfly release day; more details to come.
Also, one of our lovely staff from last year has brought us some silkworms. The students will watch them grow, spin silk cocoons, and then emerge as silk moths - very exciting!!

Visual Arts
This term is all about flowers. Students will experiment with soft pastels to blend from one colour to another noting colours that work together and those that don’t. They will use acrylic paints for double dipping and painting radial lines. Student will discuss why people make art and where they have seen art in our community. In December students will create Christmas art and ornaments.
Mandarin
This term, Preps will continue learning how to read and say different body parts in Chinese. To consolidate this knowledge, they will practise writing basic characters related to body parts. Additionally, they will learn how to say the names of different stationery items in Chinese. By the end of the term, they will be able to ask, "What is this?" and respond with "This is ..." in Mandarin.
