Dear Families
It has been wonderful chatting to so many of you as we have embraced the Arts at St Mary’s Primary School this week. Please make sure you have a look at the installations, which will be on display next week as well. This collaboration of the Arts is really exciting. To have a team of specialist teachers who work closely together has been evident this week. Thank you to Mrs Rosemary Perri, Mrs Jes Mensen and Signora Vozzo for all that they bring to our community and the hours that they put in. Please come into school and celebrate the visuals arts, performing arts and Italian culture in our rooms and along the corridor.
We have loved Marvel Monday, Tinker Tuesday, Wowing Wednesday, Talent Thursday and look forward to Fun Friday. The Choir was superb last night and this afternoon much talent was shared at the St Mary’s has Talent show. Please join us for a sausage sizzle tomorrow afternoon as we conclude our exciting week. Thank you to the P & F for bringing the fun to Friday afternoon.
A strength of our school is our leadership opportunities for all students culminating in our Year 6 portfolios. On Monday, Nicole and Olivia opened our 2024 Arts Show. They both spoke confidently and thanked those involved and outlined the week ahead. When I see our students leading the community with a microphone in hand it always fills me with such pride.
Last week our Italian Day made it into the II Globo newspaper. Thank you to Signora Vozzo and our students for this article.
Tomorrow we have some soil being delivered to fill up the large pots and plant the last of our landscaping project, thanks to Craig, Heinz and Mr Speranza for supporting this. Our sprinklers are going in next week, so that our plants are not thirsty over the holidays.
This week we welcomed Thirdy, his Mum Mundeliea and Dad Luisito Jr to our St Mary's family. The Preps and Mrs Borgese have made him feel at home and it has been great watching him running around and playing with all the students. He looks right at home!
Thank you to those families who have complete a MACSSIS survey. These surveys give us feedback and data to inform our planning for 2025 and 2026.
150 year celebration of the Presentation Sisters' service in Melbourne
This Sunday on behalf of the community I am part of the entrance procession, carrying a lantern representing Nano Nagle. I have been in contract with Sr Maria who is a past principal of St Mary's Primary School. My principalship of our beautiful school is one of stewardship and our community will form part of St Mary's Primary School story. I look forward to celebrating the 150 years mass and learning about the history of our school. I look forward to sharing this with you after the holidays.
Next Term we are offering Art Therapy through an external provider. These sessions will be on Monday afternoons 3:30am to 4:45pm. There are also a range of other extra-curricular clubs that are available. Please see the Deputy Page or Community Page for further information.
Please mark Saturday October 26th in your diaries, for our Met Gala, dress to impress! This is our major fundraiser for the year. In addition to this exciting evening the children’s art work will be auctioned off to raise funds to support the basketball court upgrade. The class art pieces are on display in the office foyer.
Reminding everyone that for the first two weeks of next Term, the children may wear full Summer or Winter Uniform as we transition into hopefully warmer weather. Week three children to be in full Summer Uniform will be required, including a hat.
Wishing everyone a relaxing break, as it has been an action packed Term. For those with teams in the AFL finals we wish you all the best and of course we finish our last day of Term with Footy Friday.
Take care and wishing God's blessings and peace upon each of you.
