Edendale Farm

Whoa! This bike is awesome, it can generate electricity!

Oh, wait! Sorry, I forgot to mention where we are. We are at the coolest place ever, Edendale Farms!

On Tuesday the 17th of September, all the waste warriors got the opportunity to visit the Edendale Farms to learn about sustainability! All of us were excited and we couldn’t stop talking about Edendale Farms. We were eager to find out what we would do and learn.  Our bus dropped us near a park close to Edendale Farms where we would walk to the farm but before that. WE GOT TO PLAY at the park.  When we arrived at Edendale Farms, we were welcomed by two workers at the farm. They hosted our activities and made us have a great time.

We had four activities:

Young Change Makers – In this activity we learnt about young kids who make difference to our community. We learnt about mobilisers, communicators, innovators, and joiners. After this activity we had recces where we ate our snack to get ready for our next session.

Cut your Carbon- We got to pedal on our human powered bikes and made some electricity together. It turns out the electricity we made wouldn’t last that long☹. We were so excited for our next activity.

Edendale sustainable farm tour- This activity was exciting as we saw so many different animals that we fed and patted. We even got to see new little lamb, one was only one and a half weeks old! 😊 Now finally lunch time. We were all starving for food and enjoyed playing some four square together to get ready for our last activity.

Jump into climate action- We looked at different ways of being climate conscious in what we eat, what we buy or don’t buy, what we wear and how we travel. At the end of the day, it was time to return to school. We were all sad to leave but were so happy that we learnt so much about sustainability.

On reaching school, we told all our friends and family how awesome the day went!

Thank you to the teachers who made this trip possible and came with us, Mr Merredith and Mr Oakey.
