Curriculum Matters
Foundation
To celebrate the end of our learning of living things, Foundation students made their way (along with 1240 other students from across Victoria) to Melbourne Zoo on Wednesday 11th September.
Some highlights of the trips were – visiting the butterfly house, seeing the meerkats sunbathe, watching the baby elephants and hearing the very noisy monkeys.
A big thank you to Dragana, Emily, Kirsten, Sam, Danieka & Ms. Lam for joining us on the day.
Level 1
During the past couple of weeks, Level 1 students have been learning about place value in Numeracy.
Place value is the value of each digit in a number. The students have produced teddy bears displaying various aspects of their learning about place value.
We have also done a Literature study on the book “Pig the Pug” written by Aaron Blabey. Students have completed a mini project about the story in the format of a book report. This has included information about the characters, a summary of the story, as well as a review.
Students also loved creating “Pig the Pug” watercolour paintings.
Level 2
At our Level 2 Adventure Day Camp, the students had a blast taking part in exciting activities designed to challenge and entertain!
They soared through the air on the flying fox, went on a photo scavenger hunt, practised their aim with archery, and worked together on the initiatives trail to solve fun puzzles. The low ropes course tested their balance and teamwork, while the human hungry hippos game brought laughter and friendly competition.
Everyone had such a wonderful time!
On the 9th of September we had Adventure Day. There was lots of fun activities like flying fox, archery, hungry hippos, initiatives trail, low ropes course and photo trail. When we reached the place we had a little snack and then went off to our first station. After a while we had some lunch, we had wraps. Then we did 2 more activities but we were quite starving so we had some yummy morning tea, we had some biscuits, cheese and a piece of fruit. Then we went to do 2 more activities before we had dinner. For dinner we had spaghetti bolognese and for dessert we had a chocolate muffin. Rhea and Ayla 2B

Level 3
Book Club
The Level 3 students have spent the past several weeks practising their response writing to a variety of experiences.
These have included sampling First Fleet delicacies, our Polly Woodside excursion, a Magic Show, and our favourite books! To celebrate the end of our review writing unit, the Level 3 students shared their book reports with a group and indulged in some hot chocolate and cookies.
We are so proud of all of their hard work so far this term and hope you all have a safe and restful break.
Term Review
What a busy term we’ve had. We have had Wheels 4 Wishes, Polly Woodside excursion, Tim Mason’s magic show, father’s day activities Kaboom & book week.
Kaboom was a great activity to get our bodies moving. My favourite activity of kaboom was the parachute .
Wheels 4 wishes was my favourite one. I did the 11km but there were other choices too such as 2.5km,11km & 32km after which we could do what we wished. I did just dance/would you rather and I did colouring.
We had an excursion on the Polly Woodside. The Polly Woodside was a ship and we got to scrub the deck, steer the wheel, have a tour of the ship & go on a long piece of rope. Then we had a indigenous cultural session. We did an act and had a talk about the culture.
Then we went to crown and the chandeliers were astonishing!
We also had Tim Mason’s magic show. It was really funny. My favourite part was the wand bit. We also had a father’s day stall. I bought my dad a mug and he loved it! Book week was a very fun activity. I dressed up as Hermione but sadly I didn’t win.
So that's how busy our term was.

Level 4
Level 4 has had a busy and exciting Term 3!
We finished with students presenting their inquiry projects that they had been working on for weeks!
We are happy to announce that Tennille and Mila from 4C were crowned our ‘Future Innovator’ winners!
We are very excited for Term 4 with camp in Week 4!
We also have School Concert and students even get to meet their buddies for 2025.
Have a great holiday!
Level 5
In Level 5, the students celebrated the conclusion of their Term 3 Inquiry unit on Animal Adaptations with a Movie Day celebration.
The students had worked extremely hard to make engaging and creative videos on various applications such as Canva. The students educated their peers about the structural, behavioural and physiological adaptations of animals. Scrumptious sweet and savory snacks added to the ambience of the occasion.
In Mathematics this week, the students enjoyed participating in an Improvement group. The focus was on Division and BODMAS. The students discussed, explored, manipulated, practised and challenged themselves with a variety of activities at their level.
Level 6
For their Term 3 Inquiry project, the Level 6 students took on the challenge of ‘saving a country in anarchy’ by implementing the Australian Government system.
Each group had a Prime Minister and supporting ministers (such as Health, Finance, Defence etc.) to help bring their fictional nations back to order.
The top six countries presented their policies and bill to Mr. Oakey, Mrs. Stewart, and the entire cohort, before we held a mock-election using the preferential voting system. Congratulations to Zoncko for winning the election!
And, of course, we wrapped up a great learning experience with a delicious democracy sausage.
