From the Principal's Desk
Welcome to Term 4
Welcome back everyone, to the last term for 2024!
I hope you had a wonderful break and had the opportunity to spend some quality time as a family and re-charge the batteries for what will be a busy but exciting term ahead. So buckle yourself in and let's see what's ahead...
Footsteps Dance Program
This Friday, we commence our Dance program. Run By Footsteps, our dance program will run every Friday for all children Prep - 6 and will culminate in a 'showcase extravaganza' at our end-of-year picnic.
Italian Day
Next Wednesday, October 16th, our children will participate in Corpus Christi Italian Day. The children will participate in FOUR special activities they have already selected.
If you have a spare lemon or two, we would LOVE some donations for our pizzelle making activity. We will start collecting those on Friday 11th October so the rind stays firm.
To add to the atmosphere, we would love the children to come to school dressed in something that reflects Italian Culture. In the past, we have been graced with the presence of an international soccer player, an ancient Roman soldier, an Italian Chef and even a Disney Princess or two. Italian colours (red, white, and green) can also used to make a colourful costume. Of course, this is entirely optional, but the children will have the opportunity to parade their costumes at our special Assembly. Please feel free to join us!
The timetable for the day is as follows:
9.00 - 9.30 Assembly and Parade
9.30 - 10.15 First Rotation
10.15 -11.00 Second Rotation
11.00 -11.45 RECESS
11.45 -12.30 Third Rotation
12.30 -1.15 Fourth Rotation
1.15 - 2.00 LUNCH
2.00 - 3.00 'Mask Making' in communities
3.00 - 3.15 Magical 'Mask - a -rade' Parade
3.15- 3.30 Return to classroom
Thank you in anticipation of your support.
Kind regards
Catrina Anderson

School Disco
Then it's time for our School Disco, which will be held on Friday, October 18th, from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. (the second Friday of Term 4). This is the social event of the year for our children and should prove to be a huge hit!
THIS WILL BE A MOBILE PHONE-FREE EVENT.
Mobile phones will not be permitted to be brought into the hall.
Our PFA will be assigned various supervision tasks throughout the evening, so we ask parents to drop their children off at 6:30 p.m. and return to collect them at 8:00 p.m. sharp.
Our Disco is open only to children in Years Prep-6. The cost is $10.00 per child ($15 per family), payable at the door on the night. Once inside, children will not be permitted to leave the hall until they are collected by their parents at the conclusion.
Our always-popular Candy Corner will operate, where children can purchase goodies such as drinks, snacks, and glow sticks!
Our School Disco is always a popular event on the calendar and this year will be no exception!
Interschool Sport
Our Interschool Sports Program resumes this term with our Year 5/6 children competing in the Footscray District Summer Sports Competition.
Our children will be competing in basketball, bat-tennis, Newcombe, and cricket. The competition commences next Friday, October 18th, and we wish them well.
Swimming Program
Our Year Prep-4 Swimming Program commences on Wednesday, 23rd October, and will run for eight (8) consecutive days at the Maribyrnong Aquatic Centre.
Swimming is part of the Physical Education curriculum, and it is expected that all students attend. Students travel to and from the venue by bus each day, and each lesson lasts 43 minutes.
Full details are available via the Operoo form sent out to families. If you haven't already done so, please respond to this form by the end of this week.
Year 5/6 Camp
On Wednesday, 23rd October, our Year 5/6 children will head off to Camp Marysville for a 3-day, 2-night camp adventure. Activities include, BMX biking , ropes course, canoeing and bouldering.
And if that's not enough...
We've included excursions to Sovereign Hill and Melbourne Museum, Parent Trivia Night, an ABC Music Concert, an Art Show, Year 6 Graduation, and, of course, our End-of-Year Picnic.
Make sure you keep a close eye on our Calendar of Events so you are up-to-date with all the news.
Phew! I'm exhausted just thinking about it.
School Closure Day
Please be reminded that next Monday, 14th October, will be a School Closure Day. Students do not attend on this day.
Summer Uniform
This term, we will introduce a new option for the girls' summer uniform. Girls can choose between the traditional dress or the new navy shorts/white blouse option.
Modelled by Sienna and Harriet, we are now taking orders for the pleated navy shorts along with the summer blouse (now available in sizes 2 and up)
Interested families are asked to complete a special order form by collecting one from the school office or by completing and submitting the attached form.
Orders are due by Friday 18th October.
Fees and Levies
Thank you to all families who are up to date with fee and levy payments for 2024. This is a reminder that (unless you are on a payment plan) fees and levies for the 2024 school year needed to be finalised by Friday, 20th September and as such are now overdue.
We request that outstanding accounts be settled immediately.
