Term 3 2025

Prep

During Term 3 in Italian class, Prep students are learning about ‘La Famiglia’ (The Family). Students listened to a story ‘Aiuto un Topo’ where they learnt the names of family members and how to say them in Italian, for example: la mamma, (mum) il papa`(dad). 

They will then apply this knowledge to various activities about their own family. Students will continue to participate in many songs and games to continue learning greetings, numbers and colours. Looking forward to a fun term learning lots of new Italian!

YEAR 1

During Term 3, Year 1 students are focusing on the topic ‘Mia Famiglia’ (My Family) in Italian class. They have learnt how to say the members of their family and write short sentences in Italian to describe their family.

Students will create a family tree using the Italian vocabulary they have learnt. With this information students will make a book about their family and themselves.

YEAR 2

Year 2 students are focusing on the topic ‘Mia Famiglia’ (My Family) in Italian class. They are revising how to say the members of their family and continued to write short sentences in Italian to describe their family. Students will create a family tree using the Italian vocabulary they have learnt. With this information students will make a book about their family and themselves. They will then share this booklet with their peers to focus on practising their pronunciation skills.

YEAR 3 & 4

Year 3 and Year 4 students have constructed short Italian sentences to describe their friends. Students have focused on adjectives, simple grammatical structures and pronunciation of words.

YEAR 5 & 6

This term, the upper primary students have modelled grammatical structures and responded to simple texts in Italian.
