Welcome to TPS

Assessments

The first week of the school year for your child will commence with a one-on-one literacy and numeracy assessment. The assessments will take place from Wednesday 28 January to Friday 30 January 2026. Each assessment will take approximately 60 minutes and will provide teachers with valuable benchmark information to help guide planning for teaching and learning. An assessment booking link will be emailed to you in the New Year.

Please note that there will not be a feedback session for parents at this stage. However, you will have the opportunity to share information about your child with their classroom teacher during the Meet and Greet session in February.

Arrival and Tissues and Tea

School will commence for your child on Monday 2 February. Families on arrival, are asked to make their way to their child's classroom. To ensure a smooth start, a staggered arrival from 8:55 am will operate. This will allow your child to be warmly welcomed by their classroom teacher and for familes to have the opportunity to venture into the classroom and capture those important first-day photos.  Your child's start time will be emailed prior to commencing.

After farewells are said, we invite parents to join us for a “Tissues and Tea” morning tea in the hall. This is a wonderful opportunity to meet and connect with other Foundation parents.

Explore the School

Your child’s first day of Foundation will be filled with excitement and new experiences. The morning will begin with a tour of the school, helping your child become familiar with important areas such as the playground, toilets, sickbay, office area, specialist classrooms and more.

Throughout the day, students will take part in a variety of fun activities designed to help them get to know their classmates and teachers. Classroom routines will be gently introduced, and your child will also meet their buddy, who will support them both in the classroom and out in the playground.

Your child will finish their first day of school at 3.30pm and will be ready for collection from their classroom.

School Bag - What to Pack

On their first day of school your child will need to bring their school bag (preferably with a unique tag or toy so it is easily distinguishable) packed with a morning fruit snack, lunch, afternoon snack and a waterbottle.

Students will need to be in full school uniform and have their hat packed to wear for outside play. We also recommend, that you pack spare clothing for your child in the event they have a toileting accident or unexpected spill. Kindly ensure all items are clearly and permanently labelled with your child's name.

Adjusted School Hours

We understand that starting school is a big adjustment. To support your child in their transtion to school life, he/she will not attend school on Wednesday 4th, 11th, 18th, and 25th February. These days allow teachers to plan and deliver targeted learning experiences to meet the individual needs of your child and their fellow classmates.

Full-time attendance will commence on Monday, 2 March.
