CAPA NEWS

Another busy time in CAPA at Glen Innes High School. Students have been out and about performing and rehearsing for a wide range of events. Our elective musicians have been showcasing their skills at performances for the residents of Glenwood aged care facility where they performed alongside the cultural dancers and delivered a set of 1950s rock’n’roll to an appreciative audience.

Our vocalists performed an amazing version of the National Anthem at the ANZAC day ceremony in Glen Innes’s ANZAC Park and again during NAIDOC and Education Week ceremonies at GIHS and GIPS. Education Week was a hectic week for all the musicians and they are to commended on their dedication in delivering such high quality performances time and time again.

Our collaboration with GIPS’s choir on the song “Steer” delivered an outstanding performance at the respective Education Week assemblies both at GIHS and GIPS. A huge thank you to Katie Randall for her work in coordinating an amazing GIPS choir. To round out our  public education week our elective music students performed a one hour concert based on songs by the band “Paramore”.

Around 25 students were involved in performing a production of the concert which was both professional and entertaining for the entire school community. Well done to all involved. As we draw closer to September our Year 12 students are busy preparing for practical exams and submissions of major works.

Our Music students recently attended a aural skills “bootcamp” at NECOM and spent the day learning some useful tips and consolidating their learned skills in answering questions in the Aural paper in the HSC exams.

We wish all our creative students and teachers the best for the upcoming exams. Our dancers and musicians have been busy auditioning and rehearsing for the regional CAPERS performance, with a large representation from GIHS this year, we are so proud of the efforts of all of you.

A huge thank you to Nicole Husband and Nat Ward for their continued support for what is going to be a truly spectacular performance at the Tamworth Regional Entertainment Centre. Additionally, I am proud to announce that our Year 10 rock band will be performing featured spots on the CAPERS shows.

A huge thank you to all the students, parents and staff who have contributed to yet another amazing term in the creative arts.

GIHS Students to Shine at This Year’s Capers Production

The stage is set, and the spotlight is ready to shine on the incredible talent of Glen Innes High School students at this year’s Capers production! Capers is a spectacular three-show event  held at the TRECC that celebrates the artistic talent of students from across the New England region — and GIHS is proudly represented by a number of outstanding performers.

Payten and Tahlia have already impressed in rehearsals, earning solo spots in several songs as featured singers. Their strong voices, stage presence, and commitment have been a highlight during the first two of four scheduled rehearsals, and they’re sure to captivate the audience on show night.

Emma will take to the stage as a featured dancer, performing in a small group of selected performers to dance within a routine that showcases their skill, energy, and passion for dance.

Just as essential — Maggie will be performing with the live band, providing the musical backbone to the production. Her musical ability is an important part of what will bring the entire show to life.

In addition to these featured roles, GIHS will also be represented by a talented group of ensemble dancers: Emerson, Ella, Tahlia, Emma, Mya, Millie, Maggie, and Khloe. These students will take part in multiple routines, bringing colour, movement, and energy to the stage.

This year’s Capers promises to be an exciting celebration of the performing arts, with students from schools across the region coming together to create something truly special.

Tickets will go on sale later this term, so keep an eye out and don’t miss your chance to support our talented students in what’s sure to be an unforgettable show!
