Performing Arts Highlights!

Year Prep Communities

The Year Prep Communities have been exploring Dance in Performing Arts. Students started the term with understanding how to be safe in their body bubble when performing Dance by expressing movements to clean their body bubble. They also experimented with their movement vocabulary by creating actions to match Australian animals when performing a Dreamtime dance to a song called, ‘In the Dreaming’.

Year 1/2 Communities

The Year 1/2 Communities have been focusing on Dance in Performing Arts. Students started the term with understanding safe dance practices and the importance of a warm-up before beginning the lesson. They collaborated with others to improvise and structure a sequence of movements based on the dance style, ‘Bhangra’. Students used colourful scarves to enhance their performance.

Year 5/6 Choir Performance

The Year 5/6 Choir students were fortunate enough to receive another fully funded workshop provided by the Australian School of Performing Arts due to our school’s dedication to the Choir Program. The facilitator that attended the previous workshop at our school, came along again to attend our final rehearsal before the Book Week Performance presentation to help us polish our performance.

The Year 5/6 Book Week Choir Performance took place on the 21st of August, where students performed in front of the whole school, staff and parents. It was an amazing success and the students should feel so proud of their achievements. A special thank you to the Choir Captains: Samyra, Sukhleen and Rhythm for all their hard work and dedication behind the scenes. Students will be writing about their experience on stage in the next newsletter.
