Wellbeing - Middle School

Over the past week, I’ve had the pleasure of attending year group meetings and speaking directly with many of our boys about the values and strengths that make our school community truly special. One consistent message I’ve heard throughout my time at the College and interacting with many families is that you chose this College because of not only the strong reputation, but that it has something for everyone — whether your child is sporty, academic, passionate about the creative arts, or still discovering their path, they feel a strong sense of belonging here. That sense of belonging is not just something we value — it's something we actively protect and promote. It is the foundation of a respectful, inclusive, and thriving school culture. That is why it is so important that we continue to have open, ongoing conversations about respectful relationships — both in and out of the classroom.
Cultivating a culture of respectful relationships, as we have worked through during our pastoral care lessons recently, are about more than just being kind. They are about listening, understanding boundaries, celebrating diversity, and supporting each other. These are skills that don’t just support success in school — they are essential for life beyond it. It is my intention to speak regularly to our Middle School students about what respectful relationships look like, sound like, and feel like, and to help equip our young people with the emotional intelligence and resilience they need to navigate the world with confidence and empathy.
As a community, we all share a duty to uphold the standards we are known for — high expectations, mutual respect, and a commitment to helping every student flourish guided by Gospel Spirituality, and Justice and Solidarity. Our strength lies in our inclusivity and our shared belief that everyone, regardless of their background or interests, has a place here. Your sons will get it wrong at times; however, let’s keep the conversations going and together, we can ensure that everyone not only feels they belong but understands the responsibility they have to help others feel the same.
Thank you for your continued support.
