Co-Curricular - Junior Sport Stage 3

With the warmer weather starting to roll in, our attention begins to head back towards the Summer season. Summer sport in the Junior School will re-commence on our return in Term 4. All boys are expected to continue in their teams from the end of Term 1. Obviously, boys who have sustained major injuries during the Winter season and are currently recovering will not be expected to train until they have healed.
Draws for the Summer season will be made available once they have been finalised. This will occur prior to the Term 3 holidays, allowing families the opportunity to plan their term. Please be aware that the season draw is in draft only and is subject to weekly changes once we commence back at school in Term 4. Changes are often small, however, they are regular, so I would encourage everyone to check weekly draws carefully for any changes each week.
Along with the season draw, boys will also have a new training schedule for Term 4. Unfortunately, we lose a number of coaches over the winter due to university timetables and new careers. This means new coaches need to be sought and often have different availabilities than the previous coach. Every effort is made to keep training days the same as previously in Term 1, however, there are often circumstances where this is impossible. Your flexibility and understanding is appreciated in these situations.
Over the course of last week, Tate Quailey (6 Gold) represented the College in the CIS Touch Football team. Tate and his team played well, winning a number of games. The draw was gruelling, with the majority of games being played on the first day. While experiencing success, unfortunately, the CIS team missed out on the finals. Congratulations to Tate for his efforts, and I know the community will join me in recognising Tate for representing the College at a high level.
With Junior School Sport photos set for Monday 22 September, it is a good time to get playing uniforms organised. All boys are expected to be present in their photos in the correct playing uniform. This can be a challenge for many boys who play summer sports. Many boys experience some growth after two whole terms, so it is important to check that playing uniforms still fit prior to photo day. Photos will be taken in the Hall and will conclude by no later than 3:30 PM. A timetable will be placed in the classrooms shortly. Boys involved in squads (Swimming, Athletics and Cross Country) will need their black Supporters’ polo shirt for the photo. Boys who have represented IPSHA, CIS or NSW will need their playing uniform, if available, for the representative photos.
I hope that you all enjoy the next few Saturday sleep-ins and are looking forward to the Summer sports season ahead.
