Welcome to the Taradale Primary School Parents and Friends Page

Library fundraiser

What better thing to do than read a book in winter!

To renew that reading spark, we are having a winter fundraiser to buy some new books to refresh the library. We have compiled this list with the results from our student survey, and input from Squishy Mini (our local bookshop), on what is popular and current. We would love it if you could share this with other friends and family who might want to contribute to this important cause. There are just so many good books out there!

Instructions for pledging for a book

1. Go to the 'wanted books page'.

2. Next to the book you want to purchase, write your name and a contact email (this contact will be used to follow up on payments not received.)

3. Transfer your money into the Taradale Primary account:

Please make payment reference ‘book’ and then your first and last name e.g. BookKylieMinogue

OR - if you want to make a donation you can also do this straight into the back account. Just be sure to also mark it ‘Book and first and last name’ so we can track what the money is for.

Potting up seedlings

There are lots of seedlings to be potted up in the next month or so and although the kids will be doing this too parents are welcome to do some of you feel like helping out.   Contact Eve on 0409584784 if so.

SCHOOL WISH LIST:

In collaboration with the School Council we have come up with a Wishlist of jobs that we need help with at school and some items that could be donated.  If you think you might have the skills or the items we need please let us know.  You will be showered with thanks and appreciation!  Please let Chris know if you can help

We need to:

  •  Fix up our sports shed:

    - install a solar light

    - Replace some damaged weather boards

    - re-paint the outside

    - put together and install shelves (we might need to decide what is needed and then seek donations of shelves or get someone to price them so we can fundraise)

  • Fix the climbing wall - *David is doing this but might be able to use a spare pair of hands. This involves replacing the ply with marine ply and checking and reinstalling handholds.  This needs to be done fairly urgently before our next OH and S inspection, or we may be asked to remove it.  It is a very beloved fixture of our playground that the kids use so we want to make sure we don’t lose it
  • We need tools for outdoor investigations (hammers, trowels, handsaws - good quality) Happy to take second-hand if in good condition
  • Garden tools (also good quality) spades, shovels, rakes, wheelbarrows, hand trowels, etc.  Happy to take second-hand if in good condition
  • We would like to turn one of the storerooms near the sandpit into a workshop / tool-shed for the students to use. The space needs a big clean out and a fit out (open to fit out suggestions)
  • If anyone has or wants to make a largish A frame blackboard that we can use at the front gate to replace our sad current one that would be great!
  • Assemble a small shed for gardening tools.  We have one, but need a clever person to take it from flat pack to functional
  • We need 20lt buckets with lids for gardening class and also some very large jars (the bigger the better!)
  • Library books - we will be holding a winter ‘Book Drive’ to get books for our library, so keep an eye out for that
