Book Week
Each year, Book Week celebrates the power of reading, imagination, and storytelling – and the annual Book Parade is always a highlight. On a beautiful sunny morning, parents gathered around the basketball court to cheer as students proudly showed off their costumes. From Wally to Dogman and the Gumnut Babies to a crowd of Harry Potters, Glindas and Wizards, the creativity and effort shone through. Our confident Foundation students were a highlight, and the teachers joined in with brilliant costumes of their own – 101 Dalmatians, butterflies, many Gruffalos and even astronauts. It was also lovely to see so many siblings dressed up too!
The school leaders - Archie, Archer, Alexis and Ellie - were fabulous hosts and judges of some special dress-up winners. Congratulations to Mikaela H (1/2F), Lucas S (3/4M) and Ella B (5/6E), who were our dress-up winners.
After the parade, students enjoyed a special author visit – and this year we were lucky enough to celebrate one of our own. Our 3/4MK teacher, Julie Kloppenborg, stepped into the spotlight as our Book Week Author. Julie has written three novels and is currently publishing a middle years book, Crikey Roo. She shared photos from her recent safari adventure and read her story Oh My Hat, inspired by the incredible animals of Africa. Students loved acting out the story and then used it as inspiration for their own creative writing pieces. A big thank you to Julie for sharing her talent, passion, and creativity with us - what an inspiring experience!

100 Days of School Celebration
On Friday, 15th August, our Foundation students marked a very special milestone—100 days of school! To celebrate, the children and teachers came dressed in bright, colourful clothes and enjoyed a whole day of fun activities.
The celebrations began in the morning with biscuit decorating, using bright icing and M&Ms. Students also created drawings of themselves doing something they couldn’t do before starting school—a wonderful way to reflect on their growth and learning. At 10am, grandparents, special friends and some buddies joined the students in the classroom to complete an activity together and share the delicious biscuits. The morning ended with a lively performance in the multipurpose room, which everyone enjoyed.
After recess, the students decorated crowns and proudly wore them for a special group photo. A lunch of hotdogs and juice boxes kept the celebration going. In the afternoon, the students were treated to a surprise—a visit from a magician! The performance was full of laughter and amazement, with students even joining in the tricks. Highlights included the magical appearance of a guinea pig and a dove, and at the end, everyone had the chance to pat the magician’s fluffy white bunny.
It was a joyful day full of colour, excitement and wonder. Many students agreed it was the best day of Foundation so far!

The Green Team
On Friday, 15th August, the Green Team met after a few weeks break. Although the wet weather kept us from spending time in the garden, we made the most of the day by planting beans, peas, zucchini, basil and parsley seeds in jiffy pots. We look forward to transferring these seedlings into Brendan’s garden during spring.
Once the rain cleared, some of our Green Team members ventured outside to harvest mini capsicums and snow peas. It’s wonderful to see how some vegetables continue to grow and thrive, even in the middle of winter!
We were also delighted to find that our daffodil and jonquil bulbs have grown tall, with many now blooming. Their bright flowers add a cheerful splash of colour to the garden at a time of year when many other plants look bare and lifeless.
The Green Team is excited to keep caring for our garden and watching it change with the seasons.
