Not Long to Go
Term 3 this year is the shortest term by far, at only nine weeks. We now only have fifteen days of school to go, in what is a very busy period due to concert practice, excursions and lots of learning. Parents, can I please ask you to note that the last week of term has lots going on with Concert performances on the Wednesday and Thursday night, and a student fee day on Friday 19th September to end the term.
New Uniform Shop
We have recently undertaken an extensive refurbishment of our uniform shop. The new shelving looks fantastic and provides easy access to staff when our families visit to make a purchase. Please remember that you can come and see the office staff at any stage if you need clothing, hats or bags for your children.
Student Behaviour
We are very fortunate at Plenty Parklands that the majority of our students display the school values and come to school each day ready to learn. We do of course have a range of challenges that we work through each week and ask that families continue to work alongside us to best support our children. Please note that in more serious cases when students are not exhibiting the values, we may call upon you to pick your child up early. We greatly appreciate the support this provides under difficult circumstances.
Tour of our School
Yesterday our senior staff hosted 25 Melbourne Polytechnic students who are studying to become Education Support staff members. The students spent four hours in our school learning more about what it takes to be an educator. As is always the case during these programs, our staff were excellent in sharing their knowledge and our students were friendly. If you are undertaking any further studies that we can support, please let us know.
Sporting Events
We have recently had successful excursions for Athletics, Hoop Time and Lawn Bowls as Mr. Scanu and Mr. Falcone continue to provide many opportunities for your children to shine. Thank you to parents and volunteers that attend these excursions and help make them a positive experience.
Staffing Additions
This week we undertook an interview process to add some new teacher assistants to our staff. On Wednesday we successfully hired three new Education Support staff members, who will be placed in year levels to support students with additional needs. We welcome Lia, Elle and Kiara to our school community.
Special Food Day
We recently had our Term 3 Special Food Day which involved students consuming either hot dogs or sushi. Like all of these events, it was very popular amongst our community, and we were lucky enough to fundraise close to $3,000. Thank you to the six parents that helped Mrs. Zurzolo in the canteen on the day and to our JSC students for assisting in the delivery of the food. This money will be used in consultation with our JSC students and what they would like added around the school.
