Important College
Information
Should a student feel unwell during the school day, they must report to the First Aid Office to be assessed. If necessary, First Aid staff will contact parents to arrange for the student to be collected from Reception.
Students are not permitted to contact parents directly to leave the campus. This ensures we meet our duty of care and maintain accurate records of student wellbeing and departures.
Please ensure your Emergency Contacts on Operoo are up to date. If your child is in the care of another family member or friend due to parental absence, these details must be updated on Operoo.
As the College’s mobile phone policy prohibits student phone use during the school day, students are not able to respond to direct messages or calls from parents. We ask that any appointments or changes to routines be discussed with your child before the school day begins or are communicated to the College through Reception.
Thank you for supporting our policy to ensure a focused learning and social environment for all our students.
We wish to remind all families the process of notifying the College when your child is absent or attending an appointment during the school day. Parent notification is required when your son is arriving late, leaving early, absent or has planned absences. Should students arrive after 8.40am, they must sign in at Student Services.

Parents receive a SMS if their child is absent from his morning Homeroom or Tutor Group.
The health and wellbeing of all our students is central across every area of the College. To better protect our College Community, please discuss with your healthcare professional about having your son vaccinated for the Flu and COVID-19, both of which are prevalent in the community.
If your child is recovering from a minor illness and requires medication (prescription or over the counter medication) during school hours, such as Paracetamol, please complete a Medication Authority Form and submit it to our First Aid Team firstaid@stbedes.catholic.edu.au
To ensure the safety of medication administration at school, no student is allowed to self-medicate.
Any child who has a diagnosed health care need, complex care need or relevant medical condition requires a Medical Management Plan completed by your treating doctor. Some medical conditions already have a condition-specific medical management plan, such as anaphylaxis, allergic reactions (green plan), asthma, diabetes and epilepsy.
For a Medical Management Plan, please contact:
Michelle Butler First Aid Officer
Medication Policy
For all medication to be administered during school hours, a Medication Authority Form must be completed and attached to the Medical Management Plan. An example would be a student with ADHD requiring medication during the school day.
Asthma medication and adrenaline auto-injectors for anaphylaxis are unrestricted and do not require a Medical Authority Form.If your son has Asthma, please ensure the College has a yearly updated asthma plan on Operoo from your treating doctor.
If you require further information please contact your relevant Campus' First Aid department.
Please return these forms to FirstAid@stbedes.catholic.edu.au
St Bede's College has a Student Accident Policy that covers our students 24 hours a day,
7 days a week for College related activities.
This insurance policy covers the following types of events: dental injury, broken or fractured bones, dislocation of joints, ligament and organ damage, burns, non-Medicare accident expenses etc.
Should you need to make a claim, you can access the insurance claim form online here.
If you've recently moved, changed contact details, have new Emergency Contacts or your circumstances have changed, please be sure to update your contact details.
This includes your address, phone number, email address and/or medical details. Please make your changes to Operoo, PAM and email us at stbedes@stbedes.catholic.edu.au
Infringements will be issued to any motorists performing U-turns and waiting in the No Standing Zone on Dixon Street near Gate 1 to our Mentone Campus.
We recommend student drop off and collection is arranged elsewhere such as Warrigal Road near the pedestrian crossing for greater convenience. Dixon Street experiences very high congestion which heightens the risk of student and community safety.
We appreciate your support as we work with our neighbours and the Council to lead with respectful and responsible citizenship.
