🛌🏻Cebula Boarding

Boarding News

Dear Boarding Parents and Guardians,

As the school year draws to a close in the Cebula Community, I reflect on the many things that have made 2024 memorable.  From the thrilling energy of the house sporting events where each boy demonstrated grit, house spirit and perseverance to the fun-filled camaraderie of the Master Chef cook-off during National Boarding Week, and the heartfelt farewell to our Year 12s, it has been a year full of joy, teamwork and celebration. These special events remind us of the strength of our Cebula boarding community and the spirit that makes it truly unique.

It is impossible to overlook the incredible dedication and commitment of our staff, whose hard work and passion have been vital in creating a supportive, nurturing environment for every boy in the boarding house. The care, attention and tireless support that the staff provide make our boarding community a home away from home and we owe much of our success this year to their unwavering commitment. Thank you to our wonderful Housemothers Fi and Leigh, weekend and weeknight staff, Boarding Nurse and the catering, cleaning and maintenance teams for their continued hard work.

A special mention must go to the staff at Mercy House, who worked hard to foster a strong sense of family, working closely with the boys to help them adapt to the unique circumstances of living across two campuses. Their patience, flexibility and commitment to providing exceptional care have made all the difference and we are incredibly grateful for everything they have done.

We farewell several boarding staff this week, Braydon, Gabby, Tom, Declan, Claudia, Bern, Fiona, Niroj and Dale and wish them well for their future endeavours.

I also thank the boys who resided at Mercy House for the positive way in which they approached their living arrangements. It has been great to see some strong friendship bonds emerge across the year groups as well as with the girls from St Brigid’s boarding.

With the new boarding house nearing completion, the next few weeks will be spent ensuring it is ready for the start of 2025. A big thank you to the building company overseeing the project for their massive efforts to ensure we are on track!

Last week we hosted our 2025 new boarders and their families for Orientation. I’m excited to welcome them all to the Cebula community where I know, they will quickly become part of our boarding family.

Several boys will also be leaving Cebula , some to become day boys in 2025, others off to Ag College and a few returning to schools at home. We send them away with our best wishes and thank them for their contribution to Cebula during their time here.

Cebula is defined in part by the amazing young man who foster and show the oblate values in their day to day dealing with each other and the wider College community. We wish them and their families a fabulous holiday break and wonderful, safe, and joyful Christmas.

To our parents, thank you for your support throughout the year. Here’s to looking ahead to a fulfilling and successful 2025.
