We have important events at the Junior School that will make for a busy end to the year.
On Tuesday, Mrs Bernadette Milich, Mr Neil MacLean and I interviewed 14 exceptional Year 5 applicants for the position(s) of 2025 Junior School Captain. The applicants submitted a letter of application and attended an interview. We found the students delightful, engaging, invested in the process and, full of potential. We will announce the 2025 School Captains at the Junior School Speech Day on Wednesday 4 December. Thank you to all who applied and well done!
Congratulations to the four finalists in this year’s House Public Speaking Final.
All presented excellent speeches at our Tuesday Assembly. Senior School Head of Debating, Ms. Sarah Macleod was our guest adjudicator. She was very impressed with all four speakers. Congratulations to Berry House student Evie Templeton, the winner of the 2024 House Public Speaking Competition and Simons Family Cup.
The following students were awarded certificates at this week’s Assembly.

Junior School Speech Day will take place on Wednesday, 4 December at 10.00am in the Simons Auditorium at the Senior School. All Junior School students are required to be in full summer uniform, with blazers and ties. Boys are to wear school shorts and the correct navy-blue school socks. All students Prep to Year 6 will be on stage throughout the morning. We have Prep to Year 2 and Year 3 to Year 6 Performance Arts choirs plus Chamber Singers and Pizzicato Strings performing.
We look forward to Junior School parents, grandparents and caregivers joining us for this celebration of the academic year and farewell to our departing Year 6 class.
I had the pleasure of being a spectator at Pedrina Park on Saturday for the College Rubies netball match against St Mary’s. With squad basketball tournaments on at the same time, the team was missing several players. Prep student Lydia King put her hand up to help out. She played an amazing match and certainly did not look out of place on the court. Well done, Lydia! Thank you for displaying a ‘have-a-go’ attitude and the College spirit.
