Boarding House Wednesday Night Meetings

What goes on during a House meeting each week? Well, that is a good question and probably best answered by our Boarding Captains, Henrietta and Henry, however I can give a brief update on last week’s happenings. Each week our Captains get their House together to shout out successes, birthday’s, reminder’s, and to build relationships between the boys or the girls. This usually works through a game or activity. Last week Henrietta led the girls House with a game of wink murder whilst Henry wanted the boys to blow-off extra energy with a game of basketball. Both activities were a success, appropriate for each House, and most importantly built on the goal of building positive rapport with each other. Thank you Boarding Captains!

Basketball refereeing

When attending Basketball at our local indoor centre, which many of us are familiar, it is so refreshing to see boarders involved as coaches, managers, scorers and referee’s.

A strength of our College is the involvement of parents and students assisting in the successful running of the sport program. In particular the coaching from our senior students is simply outstanding. What I also find amazing is to see boarders in particular seek out opportunities to work locally.

We have boarders who are working at The Roxburgh, Hamilton Farm Supplies, Mechanic’s, HILAC, and local take-away outlets. Nathan Lee is just one of our boarders who loves basketball and refereeing (not so much enjoyment having his photo taken though!). It provides a sense of purpose and responsibility, in addition to the extra pocket money each week. Well done to all boarders who are working casually, it is great to see.
