Head of Secondary Years' Report

Dear Parents, Carers and Friends of Hazel Glen College,
Congratulations to our Year 12 students, who have now completed exams, and celebrated their official graduation on Wednesday the 20th of November. This was a wonderful evening where each Year 12 student was acknowledged in the presence of their peers and family members. A special acknowledgement to our College Captains and Vice Captains for messages that they shared with their peers on the night and for their work over the past twelve months.
To the class of 2024, "Well Done" on reaching this significant milestone and completing 13 years of education. The formative part of your journey has come to an end, and the next chapter will be a time for new beginnings, new adventures and new opportunities. From all of us at HGC, we wish you well in this next phase of your journey. It has been a privilege to share the final year of your school journey with you.
Our new Year 12 students, the class of 2025 commenced their Year 12 journey on Monday 18th November at their two-day Study Retreat at La Trobe University. This event set the tone for the year ahead, and the feedback from staff and students was very positive.
Our current Year 10 cohort commenced their Year 11 program this week and will continue early start next week.
Our Year 9 students had a fantastic time at their focus camp over the past 2 days, and we wish them well for their exams next week.
We are looking forward to the 2025 Year 7 orientation day on the 10th December. We will also run an orientation program for Years 8 - 9 on the same day and the 2025 year 10 students will have a 2-day orientation on the 9th and 10th of December.
We are all very excited for the Grade 6 graduation celebration evening on the 12th December, and I look forward to seeing many of you at the Secondary Years Awards Evening on the 11th December.
I would like to congratulate our newly appointed College Captains Gurteg and Maddie and College Vice Captains Sajani and Marita. These students have demonstrated exceptional leadership, responsibility, and a strong commitment to our school values. As Captains, they will play a vital role in supporting their peers and leading by example. Please join me in congratulating them on this well-deserved achievement. We are excited to see how they will inspire and guide all our students next year.
As we move towards the final weeks of the year, please keep an eye out for notifications via Compass as there is certainly a lot happening around the College.
