Principal's Report

Stepping Up

This week, the Year 10 students experienced subject exams in English and Maths, similar to what they will undertake in Year 11 and 12. These exams are more about the experience than the result, however, they can often be a good indicator of how much a student has learnt and retained over the semester.

While there were a number of nervous students, they all took the exams seriously and met our expectations in their behaviour and diligence in their work. Well done to all the students!

Next week, the Year 10s (and some Year 9s) will step into their Unit 1 & 2 Advantage Program, being introduced to their classes and the expectations for next year. The program will last 4 days, and on their last day of school for 2024, the students will be heading into Albury to have some fun and say goodbye to the end of Year 10.

Progress Reports

The Term 4 End of Term Progress Reports will be made available in Compass this afternoon. Please make sure you look at these with your child, to celebrate any improvements made or consistency in their learning behaviours. If you have any concerns about how your child is progressing, please do not hesitate to contact the classroom teacher directly, or the Student Engagement Leader.

These reports assess the students on their learning behaviours, while the Semester Reports assess the students on the curriculum standards and learning tasks. In addition, the Week 8 Progress Reports assess students on their home study habits (relating to homework tasks).

Student Success

Earlier this week, a parent of an ex-student rang to thank the school again for the support of their child. Isaac Pronk has been completing, and is nearly finished, an apprenticeship in hairdressing. Isaac recently won the title of Apprentice of the Year from Wodonga TAFE and has advanced to the final round of the World Skills Competition, being held in Brisbane in June next year. Congratulations Isaac and thank you Greg for your kind words.

Isaac is one of many ex-students of ours who have gone on to do great things and make amazing contributions to the work they do. He is a great example of someone who was educated in the public school system in our town, and another reason why I am so proud of what our small school can do to support students to go on to be successful members in our society.
