5/6 News…
Liquids, solids & gases
Throughout the last few weeks, students from Year 5 & 6 have been learning about liquids, solids and gases in their integrated classes.
Students have demonstrated their understanding of a number of key terms, such as the state of matter, density, volume and the physical changes that occur.
The cohort have completed a number of different experiments, including making lava lamps (a big thank you to all those that donated plastic bottles) and making oobleck from scratch. This week, with a big thank you to Mr Markos, students were able to watch how balloons can be inflated, via adding vinegar and baking soda.
It's been wonderful to see so many children engaged and enjoying this term's integrated classes.
School Captain Speeches
On Thursday, Donvale Primary School had 22 students from Year 5, put their hand up and present a speech about why they would be the best choice possible for 2025 School Captain.
Students from Years 3-6, and a number of staff, along with Mrs Vesdrevanis and Mrs Rassias, watched all of the speeches, and, despite a lot of nerves, students collectively presented extremely well, and were well received by our attentive audience.
An announcement on the future captains will be made in the coming week.
