Nude Lunchbox Challenge: Reducing Waste Together!
This week, students across the school have taken part in our Nude Lunchbox Challenge, a fun and meaningful initiative designed to promote waste-free lunches and build awareness around sustainability.
We ran this challenge to align with World Environment Day (5th June), which this year focused on the important theme of reducing plastic waste. It was a timely opportunity to encourage our students to reflect on the everyday choices we make and their impact on the environment.
Each morning, students counted the number of plastic wrappers in their lunchboxes and recorded their class total on a tally chart. The goal? To encourage students and families to think carefully about packaging choices and reduce single-use plastics wherever possible.
Students who brought a completely waste-free lunch (no plastic packaging at all!) were rewarded with a raffle ticket to enter our major prize draw. Winners will be announced at the whole-school assembly on Monday 16th June, with prizes including IGA vouchers, reusable lunchboxes, containers, and drink bottles.
The class with the least amount of waste for the week will also be rewarded with a hot chip lunch as a special celebration of their effort and commitment.
We’re incredibly proud of the way our students embraced this challenge and the important conversations it sparked around reducing waste, protecting the environment, and making responsible choices. Thank you to all the families who supported the challenge by packing more sustainable lunches!
Let’s keep the momentum going and continue our journey towards a greener, cleaner future!
