From the Principal

Term 2 has passed by so quickly, we are now in week 9 with only two more weeks to go before the holidays. What a busy term it has been with plenty of experiences and learning opportunities for our students.

Semester 1 Reports and Parent Teacher Interviews

As mentioned in my last newsletter, our teachers have been working hard to complete assessments and get Semester1 student reports completed, the reports will open on Compass next Friday afternoon, 27th June. A notification will be sent out via Compass, if you are having difficulty accessing Compass please contact the office for support.

Parent Teacher interviews are planned for the final week of term, with the bookings portal on Compass being opened to parents tomorrow, Friday 20th June. The Semester 1 Parent Teacher interviews provide parents with the opportunity to discuss a student’s progress and future learning goals. If you are unable to find a time that suits or feel that you require a longer appointment time, please reach out to your classroom teacher to find a time that suits all. Interviews will be held in person unless you have organised directly with the teacher to conduct the interview via WebEx.

Term 3 Planning Week

Each term we provide our teachers with time to collaboratively plan for the upcoming term, next week is Term 3 Planning Week for all of our year levels. This means that generally all students will have most of their specialist classes on one day.

Monday – Year 5/6

Tuesday – Year 1/2

Wednesday – Year 4

Thursday – Foundation

Friday – Year 3

The time our teachers spend together on this day is important as it allows them to ensure an appropriate sequence of learning across all curriculum areas and that lessons are planned collaboratively to ensure consistency of teacher practice across classrooms.

PFA School Disco

Our fantastic PFA volunteers have been working hard to organise our School Disco event for 2025. For those who have not already brought tickets please do so as soon as possible. The Disco will be held in our hall next Friday 27th June from 3.30pm – 4.45pm for our F-2 students and 5.15pm – 6.30pm for our Year 3-6 students.  More info on the PFA page.

Morning Circle

With Libby Tobin taking on the Mental Health and Wellbeing Leader role this year, we have renewed our focus on our classroom routines in the morning, including our morning circles. Libby and the classroom teachers have communicated about this with families throughout the year. The morning circles are an important part of the school day as they provide the opportunity for students to reconnect for the day with their peers and their classroom teacher. It also helps the teacher to get a clear sense of how your child may be feeling when they first arrive at school. This morning some classes took the opportunity to take their morning circle outside, fortunately we didn’t have the frost that we have had recently.

I hope you are all able to stay warm and well as we move into our final two weeks.
