Year One/Two News

This week, Year One/Twostudents are diving into the world of arrays as a tool to solve multiplication and division problems!

Using arrays helps students see maths in action—they can organise objects into rows and columns to understand how numbers work together. For multiplication, they’re learning how to group equal amounts (like 3 rows of 4 = 12). For division, they’re flipping it around to see how big groups can be broken into smaller, equal parts.

It’s a great visual way to build strong number sense and problem-solving skills. Plus, it’s fun!

Ask your child to show you how to make an array at home using snacks, toys, or anything you have handy—they’ll love being the teacher! 🍎🎲
