Social Emotional Early Development (SEED) Program

It has been so wonderful having Foundation students join the SEED Program this term!

The SEED Program is designed to support groups of students in the early years (F-2), by tailoring language-rich learning experiences to address student needs, particularly in the areas of social and emotional development.

What have we been up to?

We have been exploring the Zones of Regulation by using playdough to create faces that represent different emotions in each Zone. Students discussed times when they have felt these emotions and shared strategies they can use when experiencing unpleasant feelings.

To deepen our understanding of emotions, we read The Colour Monster picture book and engaged in activities such as making our own monsters and participating in role-plays. These activities also helped us build teamwork and fine motor skills.

We explored our school value of kindness through the picture book Have You Filled a Bucket Today? After the reading, Foundation students contributed their ideas to our Kindness Tree (created by Year 1/2 students earlier in the year), reflecting on how they can show kindness in everyday life.

Additionally, we have been developing social skills through intentional play in the SEED Room. Working in groups, students have practiced important social skills such as taking turns, sharing, cooperating with others, resolving conflicts, and using appropriate language.

Please reach out by contacting me via the school office if you have any questions about the SEED Program.

I'm very excited for more great learning within the SEED Room!

Supporting Student Wellbeing Through Inclusive Practices

One of our schools annual implementation goals this year is to maximise student wellbeing outcomes. To support this, one of our key improvement strategies is to build staff knowledge, confidence and capability in implementing inclusive practices for all students.
