Williamstown Campus  News

Dear Williamstown Families,

As we approach the end of term, I would like to share an update on the many events, achievements and experiences across our campus.

Alpine School Experience

This term, we have three of our Year 9 students attending the Alpine School, where they are undertaking an 8-week residential program. This unique experience combines academic learning with outdoor education, while building independence, resilience and teamwork. Students live on-site, continue their studies, and engage in a range of outdoor and community-based experiences in an alpine environment.

This week, I had the privilege of visiting our students as they presented their Community Learning Projects (CLP). Despite challenging conditions and road closures, I was able to reach the campus finishing the journey on foot from Dinner Plain.

It was fantastic to see our students in such high spirits and fully engaged in the experience. I had the opportunity to share lunch with them and their Alpine teacher before attending the presentations.

I am incredibly proud of the way our students represented the college. Their presentation was outstanding—delivered with confidence, strong collaboration, and a well-developed idea focused on improving the transition to Year 10 across both campuses. It was a standout presentation and a credit to their effort and preparation.

NAPLAN

Congratulations to our Year 7 and Year 9 students on completing NAPLAN. Despite the nationwide technical issues experienced on the first day, the remainder of the testing program ran very smoothly. We commend students for their efforts and approach throughout the assessment period.

Wellbeing Week

Wellbeing Week was a great success, with a range of activities running throughout the week to promote connection, engagement and positive wellbeing.

Thank you to the families who contributed to the casual clothes fundraiser. Funds raised will support State Schools’ Relief—an organisation that provides essential items such as school uniforms, shoes and learning resources to students in need—as well as support initiatives led by our SRC.

Morrisby Interviews – Year 9

This week, our Year 9 students have been participating in their Morrisby interviews. These interviews are a valuable part of the Morrisby Careers Program, where students receive personalised feedback based on their individual profiles, including their strengths, interests and aptitudes.

The one-on-one sessions with a trained careers advisor help students to better understand potential career pathways, subject selections, and future opportunities. This is an important step in supporting students as they begin to consider their pathways into senior secondary schooling and beyond.

Parent Teacher Interviews

Thank you to all families who attended our recent Parent Teacher Interviews. Strong connections between home and school are essential in building a successful learning partnership and supporting positive student outcomes.

If you were unable to attend, we encourage you to reach out to your child’s teachers via Compass to receive feedback and discuss progress.

Lockdown Drill

This week, our campus conducted a Code Orange Level 1 Lockdown drill as part of our ongoing commitment to student safety.

The drill ran smoothly, with students and staff responding calmly and following procedures effectively. A Level 1 lockdown involves securing classrooms while continuing learning in a calm and controlled manner.

Lockdowns may be used in a range of situations, including environmental risks such as severe weather, smoke, or local safety concerns, where it is safest for students to remain indoors.

Practising these drills ensures that everyone is prepared, confident, and able to respond safely in the unlikely event of an emergency.

Final Assembly – Wednesday 1st April

We will be holding our final assembly for the term on Wednesday 1st April in S2. This assembly is an opportunity to celebrate the term and recognise student achievement.

We will be introducing our Student Representative Council (SRC), presenting attendance awards, and celebrating our Positive Pass winners. Parents and carers are warmly welcome to attend. Please sign in at the front office.

End of Term Arrangements

The final day of term is Thursday, with school finishing at the normal time of 3:15pm.

We hope all families have a safe and enjoyable holiday break. Students will return for Term 2 on Monday 20th April.

Thank you for your ongoing support throughout the term. We look forward to a strong finish and an equally positive start to Term 2.

Kind regards,

Michael
