Principal Connections

As we move further into Term 1, it has been wonderful to see our school community continuing to grow stronger each week.
Community - Open Afternoons
Thank you to the many families who have been attending our assemblies and community events. Your presence means a great deal to our students. When children see their parents and carers there celebrating their achievements, it reinforces the strong partnership between home and school and helps create a sense of pride and belonging.
Please note our open afternoons in Week 9 (see here in the newsletter). This is another opportunity to come and celebrate your child's learning and see what they have been doing in class.
Parent Reading Session - FLY Session (Family Learning for Your Child)
Next Tuesday morning our amazing Learning Specialists (Kaitlin, Jacqui and Nikki) will be hosting a Reading Session for parents, and we warmly encourage families to attend if you are able. Reading is one of the most powerful ways families can support learning at home, and this session will provide practical strategies and ideas to help you support your child’s reading development. It will also give you an insight into how reading is taught at school and how we work together to build confident, capable readers. You will also get a chance to visit a classroom and see it in action! We hope many of you can join us as I know they have an outstanding session planned with a cuppa, bickies and time for questions too!
NAPLAN
Our students who have recently completed NAPLAN should be incredibly proud of themselves. They approached the assessments with maturity, focus and persistence, demonstrating great tenacity. While NAPLAN is just one snapshot of learning, we are proud of the way our students approached the experience and represented our school so positively.
Pupil Free Days Term 2 – Fri 1 May & Fri 5th June
Please note that Friday 1 May and Friday 5th June will be Pupil Free Days. Students are not required to attend school on these days as staff will be engaging in important professional learning to continue strengthening our teaching and learning practices as well as learning to support student reports.
TeamKids will be operating on these days. In addition to their school holiday program, TeamKids provides curriculum day care and will run a full program for those who require supervision.
If you require care for your child, we encourage you to register and book directly with TeamKids. Further details will be shared by TeamKids closer to the date.
2027 Enrolments - School Tours
It is also hard to believe that we are already beginning to plan for the future. We will soon be commencing school tours for our 2027 Foundation enrolments. If you have friends, neighbours or family members with children starting school in 2027, we would love you to let them know about our school and encourage them to attend a tour. Word of mouth is incredibly powerful in building a strong school community, and we appreciate your support in sharing our story.
Thank you to our amazing staff
I would also like to take a moment to thank our staff. Opening a brand new school is an exciting opportunity, but it also comes with a significant amount of work behind the scenes. In the first year of a school, many of the systems, resources and routines that established schools already have need to be created from scratch. Our staff have embraced this challenge with incredible dedication, teamwork and professionalism. It takes very special educators to commit to the first year of a new school, and I am incredibly grateful for the passion and effort they bring each day for our students and community.
Thank you to all of our families for your ongoing partnership as we continue building our wonderful school.
Warm regards,
