Give Wales Street a Green bin campaign and Sustainability stall

A big thank you goes to all of those superstar Sustainability Group Leaders who worked so hard before our fete, making posters for our bins, making homemade stickers for our Green waste bin campaign and working on shifts throughout the day. We managed to get over 60 signatures on our petition to go to Darebin Council. You did a fabulous job managing our Brown Bag Bizarre game, explaining why we need a Green waste bin at school and asking people to sign our petition. Thank you to those Sustainability Leaders who were able to help out on the day; Saskia, Teodora, Annabel, Natalie, Cate and Mila. Thank you also to Tom, Dora, Ivana, Nick and Rebecca for helping to support our Sustainability Leaders at the stall. 

Give Wales Street a Green bin social media campaign

The Sustainability leaders have been working very hard since last year to write a script and put together a short plea to Darebin Council that can be shared on social media. It is currently on our Wales Street Facebook and Instagram pages. Please share if you can and help us to make our campaign known throughout the community. Along with our petition and letters to the council, we hope that we can get this change happening soon. 

Washing station and Waste management at the Twilight Fair

A big thank you to all of our helpers Antony, Sellange, Wathsala, Mina and Terase for helping us on the wash station collecting, scraping and washing plates and putting them back for our fabulous food stalls. We really appreciate you all for staying after your shift and helping out- especially when the rush was on! Thank you to Marian and Allison for letting us use your green waste bins for the food waste we generated! 

A super big thank you goes to this year's Fair Sustainability Co-ordinator Kasey for organising the Sustainability stall/brown bag bizarre, bins, waste stations, washing station and our can collection. It is such a big job and so very important. Our cans will help to raise a bit more money for our school and by using the portable washing station we saved approximately $2000. The biggest win is saving all that waste from going to landfill! 

Our efforts on the day will go towards evidence on our Resource Smart School’s page as we work towards our ‘Waste’ star.
