School Council

Hello, I'm Marian Tosif, parent of Talula in Grade 2 and parent member of the school council. It's lovely to be settled back into a new year of school and seeing the anticipation building for the fabulous fair. This time of year, also means a time of renewal for the school council with the AGM in March seeing two parents and staff members joining, and long-standing council members being farewelled. A big thank you to council members who are ending their term of service.
Our first meeting of the year was held at the end of February, with enthusiasm and support for the advocacy work being undertaken to secure funding for upgrades to our school. Members of the school council recently met with our local MP Kat. Theophanous to discuss the case for funding for facility upgrades at Wales Street Primary School. A compelling case was made for the prioritisation of our school, and the strong response to the petition circulated at the end of last year highlights the community support for this. The more signatures we can get the greater our presence in the minds (and wallets) of the decision makers, so please do sign the petition and share with friends, family and neighbours. For more information and to sign the petition urging the Victorian Government to invest in Stage 2 upgrades please go to... https://www.change.org/WSPS-urgent-upgrades (DO NOT GIVE A DONATION WHEN ASKED-JUST A SIGNATURE IS ALL WE ASK)
We look forward to the upgrade of the mini oval over the upcoming holidays, made possible thanks to the vibrant and successful efforts of the fundraising and social committees. I'm sure it will be very well received by students in term 2.
I hope you all came along to the fair last weekend it is no small thing to put on such events, and the volunteer power behind it is truly remarkable. It was a joyful celebration of our Wales Street Community, and a lot of fun was had by all.
