A Sacred Time of Prayer During Lent

Adoration of the Holy Eucharist and Homage to the Migrant Jubilee Cross

This week, our students participated in a beautiful and reflective time of Silent Prayer Adoration. Entering the church with reverence, they embraced the opportunity to be still, to listen, and to simply be present.

On Tuesday, our Junior students attended Adoration and engaged in this sacred experience with calmness and respect, creating a peaceful and prayerful atmosphere. On Wednesday, our Middle and Senior students also attended Adoration, before taking time to pay homage to the Sacred Migrant Cross, deepening their understanding of faith, history, and compassion.

In the busyness of school life, moments like these were truly special. During Adoration, students were reminded of the importance of quiet reflection and our belief in the real presence of Jesus in the Eucharist.

This experience connected deeply with the season of Lent, where we are called to focus on three pillars: prayer, fasting, and almsgiving. Our time in Adoration provided a meaningful way for students to live out the pillar of prayer, pausing, reflecting, and growing closer to God.

As a Catholic school, we are proud to continue these sacred traditions, helping our students to understand not only what we do, but why we do it. We walk in the footsteps of Jesus, nurturing faith in our daily actions and in these shared moments of stillness.

We were incredibly proud of all our students for the reverence they showed, and grateful to our teachers who guided them so thoughtfully through these experiences.

Caritas Can Team

Collecting Cans, Cartons and Plastic Bottles

Our Caritas Cans team has shown wonderful enthusiasm this term, eagerly collecting cans, bottles, and recyclable containers to support Caritas. Their commitment to helping others has been inspiring, and it’s been fantastic to see so many students getting involved.

So far, we are pleased to share that the students have raised just over $50 through their recycling efforts, an amazing start!

This initiative is a simple yet powerful way for our students to live out the call to care for others and for our common home. By recycling, they are not only supporting those in need through Caritas, but also making environmentally responsible choices.

We warmly encourage families, to support this initiative by sending in any recyclable items with the 10c logo on them. These can be brought to school and dropped off into Mrs Pellegrino’s room and will be taken to a local depot for a refund.

Thank you for your continued support in helping our students make a meaningful difference.

Opening School Mass – Friday, 6th March

‘Seek Peace and Pursue it’

On Friday, March 6th, Fr Ronald Masaling led us in a very special Opening School Mass, helping us to reflect on our school theme, “Seek Peace and Pursue It.” During his homily, Fr Ronald spoke about the importance of being people who bring peace to others through our words, actions, and kindness each day.

A highlight of the Mass was when the whole school joined together in song, singing What the World Needs Now Is Love by Jackie DeShannon. It was a beautiful reminder that peace begins with love, and that each of us can help make our world a more peaceful place.

A special thank you went to our talented teachers Ange Collins and Chris Quinn, along with our wonderful choir and students from across all year levels, for leading the singing so beautifully.

As we began the year together, we were reminded to continue living our school motto, “With Faith and Courage,” always striving to seek peace and pursue it in our school, our families, and our community.

Celebrating 180 Years of Mercy in Australia

Last Friday, at assembly, we celebrated 180 years of Mercy in Australia and reflected on the incredible legacy of the Sisters of Mercy, who have shaped so many communities through faith, service, and compassion.

We were honoured to welcome Sr Agnes, who joined us to watch the assembly and share in this special moment with our school community.

Our Year 5 students spoke beautifully about how the Mercy story is not just part of history, it continues through the way we care for one another, show kindness, and serve others each day. We were proud of the way our students lived the Mercy values in their actions both in and beyond the classroom.

Thank you to everyone who helped make this a meaningful and inspiring celebration of Mercy in action!
