FROM THE TEAM

This week, our Grade 6 students have explored vocabulary, summarising, main idea and themes of migration stories in Reading. In Writing, students have explored persuasive writing toolkits, such as formalised tone. In Maths, students explored multiplication and division of decimals and using rounding to estimate answers. During Inquiry, students explored the perspectives of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples on Federation. They examined the impact of different policies on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

READING

• We are learning to explore the use of vocab choices within a text. 
• We are learning to explore the main idea of texts. 
• We are learning to summarise a text that we have read. 

WRITING

• We are learning to box up our Model text
• We are learning to identify structure and toolkits of persuasive writing in our Model text
• We are learning to plan and write our Innovation Persuasive text

MATHS

• We are learning to identify different types of angles
• We are learning to use a protractor to measure angles
• We are learning to identify the missing angles in supplementary, complementary, adjacent, and vertically opposite angles

INQUIRY

• We are learning to understand how immigration policies changed over time 
• We are learning about how Australians became more welcoming to migrants 

REMINDERS

PHONES

Friendly reminder, all phones brought to school by students are to be handed in to the office at the start of the day and collected after school when leaving. Students are not to have their phone in their bags. Students are also not permitted to use their phone on school grounds, even after school.

6-7 TRANSITION

As your child is now in Grade 6, we encourage all families to begin looking into secondary school options for next year. Please take some time to explore local schools, attend open days, and discuss what environment will best support your child.
