YEAR 5

FROM THE TEAM

This week, students returned to school on Tuesday 10th of March ready to get straight back into their learning after Labour Day. They all showed resilience during NAPLAN, putting thier best foot forward and completing the test to the best of their ability.

For Math, students have continued to work on their fluency skills with quick warm ups in multiplication and division. This week we have built knowledge around measurement and geometry. 

In Writing, year 5 students have begun exploring a text called ‘Clock Close’. They have started to construct visuals to retell what the author has written using a text map. Moving forward, students will be identifying the use of literary techniques used and applying them to their own writing. 

During our Inquiry unit, year 5 students engaged in a role play task, exposing them to perspectives around the Gold Rush period. The students were able to get into character and immerse themselves in what life was like and make comparisons.
