YEAR 1

FROM THE TEAM
This week in Reading, students practiced how to find interesting words in a mentor text and learnt to identify the main idea in a story. In Writing, they identified verbs and tried using them in sentences. During Phonics, students focused on the /oa/ digraph, and learnt to read and write words that contain the /oa/ grapheme. In Mathematics, students used the “count up from” strategy to help them solve addition sums. In Inquiry, students explored how stories can be told through animation and used Scratch Junior to create their own simple animations. In STEM, students continued working on creating their puppets, using their planners to help guide the design and making process. In Wellbeing, students practiced making responsible decisions when working with others and exploring skills that help them collaborate effectively with their classmates.
