From the Principal

Be The Light of PEACE
Be the Light of HOPE
Be the Light of LOVE
We send our heartfelt condolences to all those affected by this act of evil. We hold those who are grieving and suffering in our thoughts and prayers.
St Francis de Sales, Lynbrook, joins with all those who condemn such terrible violence and pleads with every Australian to reject impulses towards hatred and retribution.
In this season of Advent in which we prepare ourselves to celebrate the birth of the Prince of Peace, we recommit ourselves to being peacemakers in our families, amongst our friends and in our wider society.
Happy Christmas Holidays
We finished the term with our Christmas Carol and it was great o sere many parents join us. Children were dressed to impress in the colours of Christmas and everyone enjoyed the performances that even included a visit by the Grinch and of course from Santa.
This was a hard act to follow but Casandra Fernando Member for Holt was a very special visitor. Cassandra presented the Holt Leadership award to Curtis and Rania. She also presented Ghezana with a $100 gift card for wining the Holt Christmas Card Competition.
The final gathering for 2025 was our end of the year Mass with Fr Fabian and the farewells to our staff that will not be returning in 2026. Thanks to Kevin, Sarah, Anju, Filomena and Amy. You have touched the heart and the minds of our students and have made an impactful contribution to our community. Thank you.
A BIG thank you to our wonderful students, staff and parents & friends of our school. Thanks for the countless ways you have supported our school and given your very BEST. Thank to our parents on the P&F and the School Advisory Council. This year we thank and farewell Sharon McNulty our chairperson on SAC and Courtney Thursfield who has supported us on the P&F and SAC member. Thanks to Raquel Netto and Natasha Pizzimento for their contribution on the P&F over many years. It is the last year for many families who have their last child leave SFS. We are so appreciative of the many ways you have helped our school flourish and grow.
We wish all our families a Merry Christmas and thank you for your partnership and contribution big or small that enhances our school community in countless ways. We wish you, staff and all our students a sensational summer holiday.
Happy New Year!!!
Testing Dates for 2026
At the start of the 2026 school year we will be conducting required testing with our students from Foundation to Year 6 across Literacy and Numeracy.
The tests administered will not only provide teachers at SFS with important diagnostic information but are required by MACS for system wide data collection. Starting the year with testing completed before students officially begin, allows teachers to ensure that learning for students is personalised and meets their needs.
Parents of students from Year 1 to 6 for 2026 will be able to book an appointment time for their child's testing via a School Interviews link. An app notification containing a code to book your appointment will be sent out next Wednesday 17th December 2025. Parents will need to book an appointment before this Friday. Prep students for 2026 will be able to book their appointment next Tuesday at the whole school orientation.
Testing interview appointments are on
Wednesday 28 January or Thursday 29 January 2026 for Yr 1 to 6
Wednesday 28 January for Foundation.
It is very important that every child attends a testing appointment prior to the children commencing the 2026 school year. If your family will be overseas at this time, please contact the school office.
MACSeye is Coming in 2026
MACSeye is the preferred OSHC provider for Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools (MACS). Many Catholic school have already transitioned to MACSeye. The process for our school to transition will commence sometime in 2026. The transition will occur sometime after Term 1. Look out for further updates in the New Year.
Merry Christmas and a safe and Happy New Year!!
