2026 Student Leadership
As our current year 6 student leaders graduate this year, we welcome our next cohort of leaders. The 2026 year 6 cohort will be much bigger than this year's year 6 cohort, and even though we will be having more students in badged leadership positions*, we will still have a lot of students unable to get a badged leadership position.
(*Yes, we have less roles next year, with five roles rolled into two, but no students will have two or three roles like students did this year, so in total we will have more students with badged leadership positions.)
I know that there are a number of very disappointed students and families. I know that there are students who really believed that they deserved a role, and families who feel the same. To you, I am deeply sorry. This is the hardest part of my amazing role here at NPS, and it is why I had a very thorough process (detailed in earlier communications) and consulted with classroom teachers, specialists, and our AP. It was a tight race for some students in the end, and no matter which way we handled it, there would have been great disappointment.
To those of you who are still eager to have a leadership role next year, please remember that we have other options, so channel your disappointment, frustration, and anger into positive determination when you are ready! There will be committees: Science Week, Production (organising behind the scenes and helping with props etc), and hopefully Buddies too. There will be the SRC. There are Lunchtime Clubs - perhaps your child would like to run one. I am here to support all of our student leaders, whether they have a badge or not.
Now to announce and congratulate the following students who will be our 2026 Student Leaders. As mentioned in last week's newsletter, there will be a badge ceremony at the first assembly back next year, on Friday 6th February, so please save the date!

These students have contracts that must be read, understood, signed and returned (just return the last page with the signatures - keep the contract at home in a safe place for reference).
