Lengo Football Program

Earlier this year, Lengo Football Academy, led by Emanuel Saakai, proudly implemented the Lengo Football Program - Newlands, a hugely successful and popular initiative that has benefited dozens of students and families across our school community.
The program has focused on football development, mentorship, confidence building, and positive role modelling, using sport as a tool to inspire young people both on and off the field.
Professional Player Visits & Inspiration
A special highlight of the program has been the visits from professional footballers at the end of each term, giving our students the opportunity to learn from real-life role models. All visiting athletes have been coached, mentored, or represented by Emanuel Saakai.
Professional Player Highlight 1
AMANHOM “MANNY” KHAMIS
Manny has played for Melbourne Victory, Brisbane Roar, and Macarthur Bulls youth teams in the A-League and is now playing professionally in Asia.
Fun fact for AFL fans: Manny is the younger brother of Buku Khamis, star player for the Western Bulldogs.

DOR JOK
Dor is a player Emanuel has had the privilege of coaching and mentoring for many years. Born in a refugee camp in Kenya, Dor moved to Australia at the age of 14. Through dedication, hard work, and perseverance, Dor worked closely with Emanuel to achieve his dream of becoming a professional footballer.
Dor has played for Central Coast Mariners in the A-League, competed in Germany, and is currently playing professionally in Malta. A dynamic No. 9 striker and winger, Dor is also an incredible role model for our students.

Professional Player Highlight 3
ALEU AROU
Aleu is currently playing for the Newcastle Jets Under-23s / Reserves in the A-League. He is a talented centre back with a bright future ahead.
Aleu comes from a remarkable football family — he is the first cousin of Garang Kuol, Australian international Socceroo and former Newcastle United (English Premier League) player, who has recently joined Sparta Prague.

First Competitive Matches
Only last week, students participating in the Lengo Football Program played their first-ever competitive matches against Brunswick South Primary School. The day was a huge success, with players and families thoroughly enjoying the experience and proudly representing the school.
Looking Ahead
This program continues to show the power of football in building confidence, aspiration, teamwork, and community connection. We are excited about what lies ahead and look forward to even bigger and better opportunities in 2026.
Bring it on!
With many thanks,
Emanuel
