Year 7

Welcome to Year 7 at St Norbert College!
It has been a wonderful start to the year, and I warmly welcome our new Year 7 students and their families to our College community. Beginning high school is a significant milestone, and it has been a pleasure to see our students embrace this new chapter with enthusiasm and courage.
Our Year 7 cohort began their journey with a comprehensive four-day Transition Program. Throughout this time, students were introduced to the practical aspects of College life, including lockers, diaries, timetables, and navigating the campus, as well as the expectations and values that underpin our community.
They participated in sessions focused on building positive relationships, understanding and managing stress, maintaining a safe digital footprint, and using the internet responsibly. The program concluded with a fun and energetic “Treasure Hunt,” where students worked together to locate key areas around the College, collecting stamps at each destination.
Of course, the transition to high school does not end there. Students have been completing weekly challenges and reflections in their Transition Booklet. We ask that families please take the opportunity to review these reflections each week and initial the booklet before it is returned to school. This process allows us to monitor how each student is settling into high school life and to provide individual support where needed.
Over the past three weeks, students have had a very busy schedule, attending College and House assemblies, participated in Ash Wednesday services, along with visits from our College Chaplain, Father John, during Religion classes. There is certainly much to look forward to in the weeks ahead, including NAPLAN, Our College Open Day, the Inter-House Swimming Carnival, Year 7 Benediction, the ‘All Year 7 and New Parents’ Evening, Harmony Day, the Year 7 Social, and our Holy Week Liturgy. It is indeed a jam-packed nine-week term.
I am very pleased to report that our Year 7 students are settling in well and are already demonstrating a positive commitment to their learning and to College life. Should you have any questions or require clarification at any stage, please do not hesitate to make contact. We look forward to a rewarding and successful year ahead.
