From the Principal

Welcome back to the 2026 school year to all our families.

I hope that the holidays provided quality family time, some relaxation and a slower pace.  I take this opportunity to welcome the 165 Year 7s and the 4 new students in Years 8 and 9, to the College. I look forward to welcoming families to the Parent Information Evening on Monday 23 March from 6:00pm for ALL Year 7 parents and our new parents. This is a great opportunity for parents to meet with key staff, especially Homeroom Teachers.

Class of 2025

At our first assembly on Wednesday 4 February, we welcomed back our graduating students to acknowledge their outstanding achievements. It is with pride that we welcomed back our biggest group of 14 award winners.

In summary:

  • 5 students join our 95 Club with our highest ATAR being 97.95

  • 37% of students attained an ATAR of 90+

  • 13 students received Certificates of Merit.

  • 2 students received Certificates of Distinction.

  • 2 students received VET Exhibitions

  • 7 students received VET Certificates of Excellence and

  • 174 vocational qualifications were achieved.

The Class of 2025 Dux, Ariana Mecham addressed our students about taking opportunities and making something out of them through hard work. Ariana also stated that “happiness is not the result of success, but rather what causes it” - something worth thinking about! I thank Ariana for giving credit to her teachers too. I hope that our current students respond to Ariana’s advice.

Mrs Monica Stirling (Director of VET) and myself were honoured to witness Santino Passalacqua & Tanaya Elliott receive their VET EXHIBITIONS from Hon Sabine Winton MLA, Minister for Education in the presence of Governor of Western Australia, Hon Chris Dawson at the SCSA ceremony at Government House on Thursday 12 February.

Also worthy to note that the ATAR Health Studies results from our students, placed St Norbert College in the top schools for the course - well done to Mrs Melanie Robinson their teacher.

Three-Week Mid-Year Term Break 2027

All Catholic Schools in Western Australia will adopt a three-week mid-year break from 2027. To accommodate this extended break, we will commence 2 days earlier than Department of Education schools. The following are the commencement dates for students for 2027 to assist families in planning holidays.

Term 1: 28 January - 9 April

Term 2: 26 April - 25 June

Three-Week Mid-Year Break

Term 3: 19 July – 24 September

Term 4: 11 October - 10 December

On Wednesday we came together in House groups to share Ash Wednesday Liturgies. Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of Lent which is a sacred time of the year for Christians as we prepare for Easter. It is a time of reflection and solemnity. Christians use the forty days to pray, fast and give alms. People often ‘give up’ something but perhaps we can ‘take up’ more prayer and one way we can do this is to commit to attending Friday morning mass at 8:10am! We can fast from social media and perhaps we can give alms or service to others by giving time to others in need-perhaps by helping or providing a meal to family and friends.

Gung hei fat choy - I wish ‘good luck and prosperity’ to all families in our community celebrating the Lunar New Year. As part of my Cantonese heritage, it still remains a special time for my family.

God bless and I look forward to your support throughout the year.
