Mrs Nicole Black
It has been wonderful to see St Mary’s come alive again as we begin the 2026 school year. We have loved welcoming our students and families back to school, along with our new Prep students and several new families who are joining our community this year.
The start of the year has been filled with positive energy, plenty of smiles, and a few understandable first-day nerves from students, staff and families alike. It has been a joy to see classrooms buzzing with excitement and reconnecting friendships across the school.
This week is an extra newsletter- full newsletters will start next week and run fortnightly from 9/2/26. On the alternative week we will host assemblies, these will be held on THURSDAY afternoons at 2:45pm in the Discovery Space. Everyone is invited to join us!
The canteen is open on Tuesdays again this year! Please see the Canteen News tab for updated prices and the link to order. Ordering can be done online or in a brown paper bag brought into the classroom. Students are also allowed to bring in money to shop at lunchtime for snacks and icy poles. We ask that parents limit the amount of money sent to school as children often spend it all and can't eat it all!
Our Prep students have settled into school beautifully, as though they have always been part of St Mary’s. This is a true reflection of the success of our Mini Mary’s transition program and the strong partnership between families and staff in preparing our youngest learners for school. We are incredibly proud of how confidently they have started their learning journey.

This year Breakfast Club will be held on THURSDAY mornings from 8:20am. Mrs Aldag will be running it with toast and fruit available.
This year we will meet on the Basketball Court on Monday mornings as a whole school. We will go through any announcements for the week and also celebrate Birthdays! This will set the school up for a successful week and bring us together as a school community. We will still have Friday Fun Day where we have a whole school game or activity on Friday mornings before we go in to learning for the day.

Our wonderful art teacher, Mrs Neidhart, has asked for all students to ensure they have an art smock at school. Prep students are asked to bring these in to help keep their uniforms clean during art lessons! They will be stored in the art room for lessons.

We have already received enrolments for 2027, 2028 and even 2029! If you have a younger child that is due to start school in 2027, please see Nicole Fletcher for an enrolment pack, or follow the link to sign up! Please share this with anyone you might know who is looking for a school in 2027 and encourage them to book in for a tour as we are always so proud of showing off our beautiful school and students.

This theme reflects our strong belief that every member of our community is important, valued and unique. We celebrate each person’s individuality and recognise the strengths, gifts and experiences that make them who they are.
Throughout 2026, Everyone Matters will guide our learning, relationships and wellbeing, helping us to continue building a school community where every child and every family feels a strong sense of belonging.
Please don't hesitate to be in touch with any staff members if you have any questions- we are always happy to chat (we may enjoy it too much!).
