Gardening Club

Junior Campus
Every Friday at 1pm, our Junior Campus garden comes alive with curious hands, big ideas, and a whole lot of enthusiasm. The Gardening Club is run by a dedicated team of volunteer mums, supported by five dedicated Year 3 Garden Mentors who help guide and encourage our younger students.
The club gives children the chance to learn where food really comes from - how to plant it, care for it, watch it grow, and eventually harvest it. They explore the full cycle of life in the garden, from seed to plate, and discover how living things depend on each other.
We also have a thriving worm farm and compost system. Kids help collect food scraps from their lunches and learn how waste can be transformed into rich soil that feeds our plants. It’s hands‑on sustainability in action.
At the end of each session, children are welcome to take home any produce that’s ready to harvest. To help us reduce waste, please send your child with a small reusable container if they’d like to participate. This avoids the need for paper bags each week.
We also ask that each child brings their own pair of gardening gloves. They’ll bring them to each session, look after them, and take them home again - an easy way to build responsibility and care for their belongings.
The garden is also home to our five quails, and the children love learning about their habits, as well as the local birds and insects that visit our space. Along the way, they’re introduced to different herbs, how they grow, and how they’re used in cooking and everyday life.
Gardening Club is a beautiful opportunity for kids to connect with nature, learn practical skills, and experience the joy of growing their own food. We’d love to see your child there.
Warm regards,
Jen
