Student Leadership, Voice and Agency at GEC

GEC proudly celebrates the commitment, initiative, and teamwork shown by our 2026 student leaders. This year, we saw large number of students step forward to take on leadership roles across the college. Each student who submitted an application did so knowing the significant effort required - including writing detailed applications, presenting their ideas, and in some cases participating in interviews or speaking to their peers. Their willingness to engage in this process demonstrates the strength of student voice and the growing culture of agency across our school.

Leadership Planning Day – Building Purpose and Direction

On Wednesday 28 January, all newly appointed student leaders took part in a Student Leadership Planning Day. Across the session, leaders collaborated, reflected, and began shaping their goals for the year ahead. Student leaders worked together to turn their ideas into meaningful action whilst ensuring their initiatives align with our school values - particularly care, respect, and the creation of a positive, consistent school environment.

Student Leadership Assembly – Thursday 12 February

We look forward to recognising and celebrating our 2026 leaders at our Student Leadership Assembly this Thursday, 12 February at 9AM. Each leader will be formally presented with their badge - a moment that acknowledges their dedication and the trust our community places in them. This celebration marks the beginning of a year of growth, teamwork, and purpose.

Further Training and Growth

We are also excited to share that our College Captains and Sustainability Leaders will be attending additional leadership development during this term. This training will strengthen their capabilities, broaden their understanding of influence and service, and help them lead with confidence throughout the year. Well done to these leaders for embracing further opportunities to grow.

A Strong Start to 2026

We are proud of every student leader for their courage, initiative, and the strong start they’ve made. Their collective voice will shape the culture of our school, inspire their peers, and help 2026 become one of our most positive and connected years yet.
