Principal Connections

Welcome to Term 3
Welcome back to Term 3. I hope everyone had a safe and relaxing break. I enjoyed the warm sunshine in Port Douglas and some much needed relaxation!
It has been lovely to see our students return happy, settled and ready to learn. There has been a wonderful energy across the school, and it has been exciting to welcome even more new students and families to Balambalam.
It was also very special to celebrate our first 100 days of school. I must admit, I had a proud tear in my eye watching the video of our community and everything we have celebrated so far. At times, it feels quite surreal to think that Balambalam has only been open for six months. In such a short time, our community already feels so connected. Thank you to everyone who was able to join us and celebrate this special milestone.
We are continuing to grow in numbers every week. When we opened at the beginning of the year we had 238 students, and now we have more than 300 students enrolled. It is exciting to see new students and families joining our school community. To support our growing numbers, our staffing profile also continues to grow. Please see our "Meet our Newest Staff" page to familarise yourself with the new faces.
Enrolments for 2027 are also beginning to come in. We already have more than 80 Foundation enrolments and are expecting to add at least another five classes next year.
Foundation enrolments for 2027 close on 31 July, so it is very important that families apply as soon as possible.
We have also just started to employ teachers for next year as well. To help us plan the right number of classes, teachers and support staff, we need our enrolment numbers to be as accurate as possible.
If you have a child starting Foundation next year, a sibling who will be enrolling, or you know a family planning to join Balambalam, please encourage them to contact the school office now.
This term, we will continue to focus on strong learning, positive relationships and making sure every learner feels safe, included and supported.
Thank you for being part of our growing Balambalam community. We look forward to another wonderful term of learning and connections.
Warm regards,
