Balambalam Reading Challenge
1ST JUNE - 21ST AUGUST
The Balambalam Reading Challenge officially began on 1 June and will continue until the week before Book Week. We are thrilled to see students already embracing the challenge and celebrating the joy of reading.
Inspired by the success of National Simultaneous Storytime, this challenge aims to foster a love of reading, increase student engagement with books, and create fun opportunities to celebrate reading across our school community.
As part of the challenge, students have received an Individual Reading Record Sheet to take home and use to track their personal reading journey throughout the challenge. We encourage students to keep recording their reading and sharing their progress with their teachers.
If you need any extra reading sheets, please use the attached:
To further encourage a love of reading, we will also be introducing a Lunchtime Reading Club in the library this term. Students will be welcome to spend lunchtime enjoying a quiet reading space or listening to stories read aloud for enjoyment. A confirmed start date for the Lunchtime Reading Club will be shared soon.
Students will also have the opportunity to enjoy stories read by some familiar faces from around the school, with teacher story videos being played during lunch eating times.
We encourage families to support the challenge by reading together at home and helping students record their reading throughout the program.
Happy reading! 📚✨
