World Environment Day 2026: A Call For Climate Action

The Earth is speaking to us—through record-breaking temperatures, more intense wildfires, extreme storms and glaciers disappearing before our eyes.

It can feel like doom and gloom but there is so much we can do as individuals and communities. The Climate Canons observed World Environment Day on Thursday 4th June with a variety of activities including a Blooket and recess event highlighting all the wonderful things our environment has to offer and how we can protect it.

Congratulations to Maybelle T (Yr 7), Anureet C (Yr 8) and Tanyian V (Yr 9) for achieving top scores in the World Environment Day Blooket and thank you to all the students who came along to engage and learn in our activities.

World Oceans Day

World Ocean Day was celebrated on Thursday 11th June. This global initiative focused on the theme "REIMAGINE: Beyond the world we know, a new relationship with our ocean," urging a shift from extraction and exploitation to connection and restoration.

We know so little about our oceans but they are essential to our survival. Students participated in a Blooket and recess activity game where they “fished” an item and answered questions, building knowledge and understanding our of oceans.

Thank you to all who got involved, especially Mr Murphy  and congratulations to our World Oceans Day Blooket prize winners Kirat K (Yr 7), Natalie V (Yr 9) and Kanishk V (Yr 9).
