Senior West Class

As part of the Pathways to Community Program, linked to thePATH (Planning Alternate Tomorrows with Hope) process and the Modified SACE curriculum, Senior West students have commenced a trial of the “MyPath” post school program at the Minda Brighton site.

Students enjoyed their first visit this week, which included a trip to the Inclusive Café where people participating in Minda's employment sector have the opportunity to work. The class enjoyed the bus journey, including the scenic drive along the Esplanade, choosing items from the café to enjoy with their lunch and exploring a new community setting together.

Throughout the remainder of Term 3, students will attend weekly workshops facilitated by the MyPath team. They will participate in activities that reflect the post school program, including art, music, gardening, cooking and beach walks. Each visit will conclude with lunch at the Inclusive Café, providing further opportunities to build independence, confidence and community participation.

This partnership supports students to develop practical community integration skills, become familiar with potential post school pathways and service providers and build confidence as they prepare for life beyond school.

White Class

The White class have been busy with their literacy to start this term. We have been finding many 'O' words and making sentences, as well as discovering different words for our word wall.

NAIDOC Incursion

On Friday June 26 we hosted two Kaurna men, Drew and Liam Kilner, as part of our NAIDOC Week celebrations at school. The incursion was linked to our HASS work this term on the importance of place and caring for Country. Students were able to touch various artefacts, such as boomerangs, clubs, woomeras, shields, and numerous animal furs (possums, red kangaroo, grey kangaroo).
