Principal's Report

Kaylene Kubeil

Term 3 - Week 5 is 'Hump Week!'

Can you believe we are at Week 5 of Term 3!  The mid-week of Term 3. Term 3 is the most critical term for learning, as routines are established, teaching is at its most effective, and data-informed interventions are in place, which makes it an important term for accelerating student growth and setting up strong end-of-year outcomes as we head into Term 4. The year is flying past so quickly.

WSN - Whittlesea Schools Network Update

This week, the members of the Principal class team, myself, Ms Gittos, and Mr Kirkright, participated in network 'Communities of Practice' (COP). A COP is a group of professionals who work together over time to improve their practice through shared learning and collaboration. We were fortunate to visit both Epping Views Primary School and Mill Park Primary School, which place a strong, deliberate focus on teacher practice as a key driver of improving teaching and learning. Through 'learning walks', leaders (from a range of WSN Schools) engaged in structured classroom observations, which provided opportunities to see effective practice in action and to reflect on how teaching approaches influence both student wellbeing and learning. These observations were not judgemental but were grounded in professional curiosity, focusing on what schools are doing regarding their planned strategic implementation and ongoing improvement challenges.

Following observations, all leaders engage in structured discussions to share insights, reflect on practice, and identify small, actionable changes that can strengthen practice back at our own schools.  This cycle of observation, reflection, and refinement has supported teachers in building a shared understanding of high-impact teaching aligned with the Victorian Teaching and Learning Model (VTLM) 2.0. Importantly, the network COPshave reinforced the link between strategy, implementation, and outcomes. By keeping the focus on strategic implementation, leaders (who work together) are better able to implement purposeful, evidence-based whole-school initiatives.  We value this ongoing collaboration within our network and look forward to continuing our work with other schools within the Whittlesea LGA to strengthen practices and enhance collective outcomes for our schools.

OPENS NEXT WEEK
OPENS NEXT WEEK

Our school is conducting the annual Parent / Carer Opinion Survey offered by the Department of Education and is seeking your feedback. The survey is designed to help schools understand families’ perceptions of school climate, student behaviour, and student engagement. The survey is optional, but we encourage and appreciate your participation. Our school will use the survey results to identify areas for improvement and professional development needs, to target school planning and improvement strategies.

The Parent / Carer Opinion Survey will be open online from Monday 17 August to Friday 18 September 2026, and all families are invited to participate.

The survey will be conducted online, takes up to 20 minutes to complete, and can be accessed at any convenient time on desktop computers, laptops, tablets, or smartphones.

Staffing Update

I would like to congratulate Ms Erin Short on securing a classroom teaching position at Beveridge Primary School for 2027.  Currently, Ms Short is on family leave, and whilst this was not an easy decision for Ms Short,  we wish her all the best as he joins the Beveridge PS team.

In addition, next week we welcome Ms Kathryn Buckland to the Year 34 team, who will offically commence next Friday 21st August. I would like to thank the families of 34D for their patience as we have worked through this recruitment process

Have a lovely weekend
